first decide what type of rear axle you want to run, then if you want a coil or air shock, as well as if you want to have scg tabs(recomended) or a 1.5 inch head tube. once you figure that out it will narrow your choices down enough to then choose the best geometry for you. also look for a lifetime frame warranty. good luck.
I would have to say that a Foes FXR is hands down the perfect choice. My dad has one, and uses it primarily for a DH bike, and is built to 34 pounds. It pedals better than any 6.5" frame ever should with their new Curnutt Air shock, it can climb any hill if equipped with a front derailer, and descends like no trail bike out there. I would hands down consider this one of the best do-it-all bikes, even more so than a SC Nomad.
Got to agree with Toll (and ´Bearclaw). The SX trail is an awsome choice. Try and demo ride one and as many others as you can and pick the one that you like best. SX Trail has got to be a serious contender though.

The sx is a freeride bike, not a 6 inch all mountain bike.
