Any word on if lower Gypsy is actually going to open tomorrow? I want to ride it before it gets all blown out lol.
Are they just going to open a portion of the lower section? From the lift it doesn't seem like they have made it very far down the hill, but it's hard to tell.
Rode the new section of Gypsy today. They were calling it a soft opening. Main thing is there's a massive wood 'structure' I guess. You cross the fire road, hit the jump that's visible from the lift then a turn or two later you come out onto it. There's three lines, left and right are mirrors of each other- wooden S-bend berms that are elevated and end in a step down. Right line is the smaller step down of the two. The center line is a pretty steep jump that just sends you up over a cabin the size of an out house(ish)- people were getting pretty good hang time off it. If you run that brakeless from the top of the wood clearing it's not a problem. Then you ride down a short section of paved trail to the next fire road and Livewire. I personally like it alot. Fit's the vibe of the rest of the trail and it's definitely cool to see the trail crew building bigger stuff. Right now the woods pretty slick and it's hard to carry a lot of speed through though.
The rock is below the new wood features. Basically the trail follows the fall line to get back onto live wire. The rock is going to act as drainage it looks like when it gets rained on.
