Looks good, but the front half of the frame reminds me of a Norco A-Line.
  • 3 1
 my thoughts exactly
  • 9 1
ya looks like a aline but with rmx swingarm?
  • 4 1
yeah a line with an rmx back end, my thoughts too.
  • 2 1
lol maybe a swingarm but the linkage sure isnt the same. Theres a reason rmx's were constantly plagued with cracks and fractures. Both tomac and chumba dont have that problem. All about the linkage design.

Does tomac still have that single swing arm design? I thought there new bike was different?

Edit Yup it is different passion 2000 I really want one more than that chumba

I wasnt talking about the 08 tomacs. I'm talking about the year I have. The Moah and the new primer do not use the single arm design any more but their linkages remain somewhat similar. The first mag 204 was a lawwill design while the 2nd generation were the single arm design.

Aside from bomberdave it is unfortunate to see so many people with such lack of MTB knowledge. Shaums was winning races on chumba's when norco's were still monocoque and rocky's coolest bike was the pipeline. So as far as the F5 utilizing an incorporation of RMX/A-line design features, you couldn't be farther from the truth. While I am sure you are all having a great time tracing the origins of design, it may prove useful to know some of the history of your own sport first. In closing before we go theorizing about stress distribution on shock mounts perhaps we should take a closer look and realize that this is in fact one of the better examples of proper distribution in a high stress area.

way to go JRPO. a lot of people are saying that because Norco and RM are Now more recognizable then the Chumba Wamba now Chumba racing. But yes Chumba have had this design for many years before Norco.
  • 2 0
this isnt a copy of anything there folks, norco this and rmx that, chumba had this kinda frame design and theyve been refining it for years

first the zulu DH
www.geocities.jp/kamazou_com/zuluDHpuroto.jpg

then the F4
www.allwheelride.com/images/1157529195/0a_1-1.jpg

and now the f5 has been around for 1-2 years, so they had the frame design long before norco

wow you kids are slow, as a few have said, this bikes design has nothing to do with norco, rocky or turner....i have a dhr, let me reasure you the 2 ride nothing alike. the turner is miles more like an RMX then this machine, and to anyone who thinks its gona break because of the look of it, welcome to the future of downhill racing. these bikes are going to be skinnier and lighter every year from now on. look at the new DHR, it uses a similar sized tubeset and comes in at a similar weight compaired to my box frame 05. go to www.chumbaracing.com to get a good close up look at the linkage. although slightly similar the chumba doesnt have near the shock ratios. also there is no "dogbone" link like on the RM/RMX series bikes. jut because a bike has a low based pivot and a moto swingarm doesnt mean anything, next your going to tell me the old rotec's are RMX copys, even if the Rotec's were around in the 90's

ALSO, to those saying it look like a norco....funny how the F4 (the chumba dh bike previous to the F5) came out 02-03ish..... when shaums was racing for them.....then when he went to norco , the 05 team dh main frame had a sudden likeness to the F4 (yes iknow the 04 team was a tube design to, but the 05 looked like a hydroformed F4).......... could norco have copied this superior design when shaums brought his riding into the mix?

The chumba suspension is absolutly one of the best suspensions I've ridden. I've had Giant DH Team, Specialized Demos, as well as VP Free and the chumba still wins hands down. As far as the weight goes my F4 frame weights in at 10.2 lbs w/ DHX 5.0 and Full Floater, the bike weights around 37 lbs full built.

looks so fast, id love to give that a rip..
  • 3 1
doesn't matter how it looks, its all about how it rides and im sure it rides amazing

It's funny, if you go to Chumba website and look at the F5 frame there, it has a Vanilla RC. Oldskool.
  • 0 0
vanilla rc shocks have more potential than the dhx5 and weigh a lot less.

My push'd fox rc works better than my roco w/c. simple. O and it has never had a single issue. 5 years of riding with no rebuild. Try that with a dhx 5.

sick frame, nice and simple. but i would kinda be scared of breaking the front shock mount. it needs just a small gusset on the front part of the mount to distribute the stress, instead of all on that weld.
  • 2 0
kinda looks like a motocrosser back susp. wicked
  • 0 0
ya i dont like how open the shock is and the fact its like an rmx i think i would rather ride an rmx but i would like to try this bike
  • 0 0
when i first saw this i thought it looked like some one took all the best D/H bikes out there, and took the best parts off them to make up this one sick D/H bike!
  • 3 1
 sick looking bike
  • 1 0
remix of an rmx and a norco lol
  • 0 0
too bad this design was out before both of them combined in age.... The rmx and norco copied chumba. Simple. Heck tomac has been doing a similar design since 2000.
  • 0 0
it looks like a cross between a turner dhr, a commencal supremedh and a norco a-line
  • 0 0
it looks to me to be very similar to many bikes already out there. can anyone tell me whats so special?

Since when do looks determine how a bike rides willems. Its the geometry and the insane metal work they do. Welds are top notch. There is more than frames looking similar. Its about how they ride. Heck you can say all single arm dh frames look the same. I bet my tomac rides in NO way like a chumba or rmx, but yet has a similar design.
  • 1 0
i thought norco too when i saw the front
  • 1 1
ahhhhh if this is such a nice riding bike then whos riding it in the world cup series?
