Europe - Episode 2: Spain

My family decided to take a hiatus off work and school, and travel around Europe for six months from September to March. We decided to plan our trip with only a few locations to stay, where we could rent out an apartment or house for a month or two. After spending a month in Southern France, we traveled down to a small town in the Andalucia region of southern Spain to extend our summer a bit longer.

Over the next few weeks I ended up filming with Roost DH, a mountain bike holiday company, for a day. We ended up with a fun little "beginners" video to show off one of their many riding locations in Malaga. You can see this video here. They told me that in a few weeks, Gee Milner would be staying with them to shoot for his film, Boundless, and I was welcome to help out if I was interested.

The next week I met up with some BMX riders from Malaga at Miraflow, a competition in Sevilla. They killed it in the Bowl event with Gabriel Mastragostino taking first place. I was surprised to see the huge amount of spectators for a mainly flow/am event, with the venue absolutely packed even for qualifying. Big props to Monster Energy for hosting such a sick contest, it was great.

I then headed back to Malaga to stay at Roost DH in their villa for a week of filming and riding. It turned out that with Gee filming, Jeron Holy taking photos, and Ben from Roost DH injured half the week, it was a very small group of riders, with only 4 guys biking at one point. Even though I was only ment to film, I had loads of fun being able to ride warm up laps in the morning with a lot of riders I wouldn't have otherwise met.

We filmed with rider Simon Parsons for Gee's film on a huge range of tracks. Although you might think Spanish riding is all wide open sunny tracks, there were plenty of wooded trails with too many berms to count. It was impressive how each area would have completely different terrain, with a rocky, sandy techfest one day, and loam the next. Parsons killed it, and his section in Boundless will be great when released next year.

I kept out almost all of the good stuff out of this video of my clips of Simon, as I don't want to spoil anything in Boundless. I still think it's a sick video, but there's a much better one to come when Boundless is released. Get stoked for that, as well as Simon's segment in Boundless, it will be mint.
