Maple Ridge Cycle presents Banshee Days-May 28th, 2006

May 23, 2006
by Tyler Maine
The Maple Ridge Cycle bike club is up and running again. Following a successful run last year, they’re back for an encore. Started at the beginning of last riding season by Troy and Rob (owner and manager of the shop), it gathered almost 100 members and had anywhere from 20-70 people out for each and every ride. Of the 100 members, approximately 20 of them were ride leaders, and the majority of the rest were kids aged 9-15. They ride an area with 21 trails and can tailor groups to any and all riding abilities. 72 rides later they hosted a year-end wrap up with special guests Ryan Leech and Jay Hoots. Free burgers, hot dogs, and pop rounded out a great year for the kids and their family and Ryan put on a fantastic trials demonstration to keep them entertained even through a torrential downpour. This year these riding fanatics have already claimed 120 victims into their club, placing them amongst the largest biking clubs in the province. They say the secret to their success is that they get out there and ride with the kids themselves. They have 30 fellow rideaholics as leaders but Rob and Troy get out and ride rain or shine twice a week. The club, in conjunction with the shop, is hosting their own events this year. The first will be Banshee days on May 28th. You can come test-ride a Banshee on the trails and talk to the boys from Banshee bikes. Check out their website for more details www.mapleridgecycle.com.

Maple Ridge Cycle itself is a shop that caters to all members of the family. Carrying the 120 models of bike that Norco provides, they offer kids and adult bikes. Whether you want to ride on the road, dyke, seawall, single track, cross country, or a pile of driftwood, these guys have a bike for you. Supplementing Norco in specialty bikes, they also carry Dark Cycles, Banshee, Haro, Asterix, Fireeye, Azonic, and Del Sol to satisfy any craving you have in a bike.

Next year, the shop will be celebrating their 40th anniversary (in a big way, they say), and their staff has about that many years experience in the bike industry.
