Retallack is a place which should be high on your bucket list if you are any level of mountain bike enthusiast. With its laid back atmosphere and humble mountain lodge tucked in-between the Selkirk’s and Valhalla’s, Retallack is mountain bike adventure in its most comfortable form.
Retallack is situated on a historic mining settlement. The site and its maze of mining roads make for unmatched access to the back country with endless opportunity for massive descents from alpine to valley floor. With our dirt bikes, we were able to explore the mountains in search of new riding zones. It was pretty cool going out each day on the old abandoned roads deep into the hills, far off our modern day beaten path. Those are the days we will never forget.
We also wanted to explore lower down in the forest. It’s amazing how the terrain changes so much from high alpine to the valley bottom yet it's equally as rad for mountain bikes, with a natural blend of different styles of terrain. Retallack really has the potential for any style of riding you may desire. We found some playful lines through the forest which we wanted to build with cool features like stumps and boulders. It ended up being a really fun line and hopefully it's something people are excited to ride in the future.
It was a real pleasure exploring, digging, and riding out at Retallack. Huge thanks to the fine people at
Retallack Lodge,
SrSuntour and
Knolly Bikes for making this project possible and giving us this opportunity!
