Rising Up is a Downhill Film featuring Australia's 4 finest young riders, Troy Brosnan, Tracey Hannah, Joey Vejvoda and Andrew Crimmins, following them throughout the 2011/2012 Australian National Series.
This film for myself was an outrageous adventure to film, a humungous task that had me drive halfway across Australia and back in 1 day, sleep 18 hours in Brisbane Airport.... on the floor, and kill my beloved car. Getting to film with Troy, Trace, Joey & Andy was an absolute pleasure of mine and road tripping around the country to film the National Series was amazing.
Also, there's been this women in mountain biking debate going on lately and I've taken a lot of flak for saying this in the past... but I totally agree with what Tracey Hannah says about not riding like a girl -- guys are more powerful and active on their bikes. They are more preemptive when they ride and it makes all the difference. I love watching women ride, Women of Dirt is one of my fave movies, but there are few women who ride like guys (Jill Kintner and Darcy Turenne make the list along with Tracey Hannah). I remember seeing little Tracey win Schladming in the girl's section of Earthed 5 and thinking "holy shit she rides like Mick!"... and that's a good thing, damnit! Just figured I'd go on a rant in a comments section that very few people will ever see, hahahahaha...
thank you for your understanding.
