I wish some people would stop making out they're past it because they will soon be 40, i'm 51 and I know i'm fitter now than when I was 40, it's just a matter of getting off your arse and staying fit, oh yeah and I've broken 35 bones including my neck and back in my early 30's, like I say to people, get fit not fat
great film and racing by the way
I participated in this and I think everyone there had an amazing week. Challenging physically and mentally but in a v good way. As you can imagine the terrain is a lot steeper than it looks on the film but am glad it came out so good and reflects the experience so well. The media guys and volunteers definitely helped make the week, excellent job!
I was one of the filmers for this event, and I've got to say it was the best week filming I've had since I started!
Glad the final product came out so well! Bring on next year!
THe oldest finisher in 2013 had is 50th birthday during the event - at 40 you are just warming up! And the winner Rene Wildhaber now in his late 30s, proved he still has the fitness and endurance. He won EVERY day over second place (and both aged mid-twenties) Armin Beeli and 3rd Place Neil Donoghue. Epic long distance events like this are more about skill, consistency and tactics than pure strength and fitness. Although ideally, you'd have all of the above!
