The Big Mountain Enduro visited Durango, Colo. for its fourth stop, to take racers on an epic backcountry adventure through high alpine single track and rocky ridge lines. It was a test of the bike and the body to make it through four brutal stages that were physically demanding, technical, and just plain hard.

Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski (Trek Factory Racing) won the overall weekend with two stage wins on Stages 2 and 3. Nate Hills (Mavic/SRAM/Yeti) claimed Stage 1 and Mike West (Yeti/FOX) took the win on the final stage. Krista Park(Cannondale) dominated the weekend with three stage wins and the overall. The Big Mountain Enduro and North American Enduro Tour finals will take place in Moab, Utah, September 28-29, 2013.

The riding in Durango is easily some of the best in the country. The trails combine buff flowey single track with enough tech to keep you honest. Many thanks to all the volunteers who build and maintain the trails there.

The trails were pretty cool, although those of us from the flatlands had a tough time with all the climbing! Seriously, starting a race with a 5.5 mile climb up loose gravel at 7500-11000' was no easy task!

I also don't know about "buff and flowy" as there was only a couple trails that really fit that, most of it was technical and covered in rock!

There's hundreds of miles of trails in Durango and plenty are butter smooth. As far as the climbs go that's just the way it is in most of Colorado. RC likes to call it Huff and Puff country. Steep as hell up and steep and fast as Hell down. The pain is worth it though.

A bike, in full sprint, moving over dirt, makes a musical sound. I dig that "song".
