Ard Rock returned to the picturesque Swaledale area in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, transforming the sleepy village of Reeth and rugged landscape into a mountain bike mecca. Trails were marked out especially for the weekend's racing, the event village was loaded with local food, the beer pumps were primed and the expo was packed with products from leading mountain bike companies.

Intresting fact. If you lined up all the santa cruz bikes and VW vans end to end from the ard rock they would form a continuous line around the world twice!

And if you collected up all the detachable chin-guards, you could save a lot of blokes from looking silly.

They just need to sort their ticketing process out. They give you X amount of minutes to make a booking, thing is their website servers can't handle the loading - my booking just bombed out half way though filling the form in - then it had sold out. Rubbish....

With demand so far ahead of supply it might be worth their doing the tickets on a lottery system in future. I was at work when tickets opened this year so basically had no chance either, there are better ways than opening the system at 9.30 and hoping nothing falls over.

If you want to climb Yu Shan, which is Taiwan's tallest mountain, you have three months in which to register interest. They then choose names at random.

@OrangeGoblin: indeed the weather was fine from a rain aspect but the wind was just mental and limited how fast you could go on the downs.Obviously nobody can predict the weather and I still had a wkd weekend. Can't wait to do it all again.
