Words by Kyle Warner

I just wanted to share this fundraiser that we have been working on putting together to help benefit the people of Butte County who were affected by the Camp Fire last year.

photo

As many of you know, we had one of the largest and most deadly fires in US history rip through the Butte County Community last November. The fire took the lives of 86 people and as of now there are still 3 people missing, nearly 20,000 homes and structures were lost, and over 30,000 people in the area were displaced. Since last November the people of Butte County have been slowly rebuilding the pieces of their lives and communities, trying to find a new normal.

As soon as the fire happened, I knew that we needed to bring together the cycling community and see if we could help make the lives of some families better. I wanted to give a little time and space for people to breathe and let some of the chaos settle down before doing something like this and now that the community is in a bit more stable position I think its time to show them how awesome the bicycle community is and how much love we have to give.

We are putting on a really cool sweepstakes style fundraiser where one lucky winner will get a completely custom Felt Decree Mountain Bike ( Full Spec Below), a full riding kit from Fly Racing and Pit Viper, a bike care package From Maxima and some extra goodies from my other sponsors like ONNIT.

But wait there's more! I have also reached out to a bunch of other pro athletes and they will be donating memorabilia like signed jerseys, and other gear so that we have even more chances for people to win cool stuff! Athletes I have confirmed so far include riders like Cam Zink, Jill Kintner, Brandon Semenuk, Nate Hills, Nicholi Rogatkin and more!

So if you want to win either a badass mountain bike or a really cool piece of memorabilia from some of your favorite riders. Then head over to go.rallyup.com/campbike and get some entries!

The base entry is $10 for 10 entries and then it will go up from there. You can also choose to donate without receiving entries if you just want to help the cause.

Our goal is to raise $30,000 in this campaign. 75% of the money will go towards paying for group and family therapy session in the Butte County community to help people sort through the emotional stress and damage that was caused by going through this nightmare. The remaining 25% will go towards the newly formed Butte County High school mountain bike team and our goal is to pay for bikes, gear, and entry fees for kids affected by the fire and help provide them with a new sense of community and a healthy outlet for all of the stress.

All of the money will be donated directly to Chico Velo which is a local non profit cycling club and then they will help me write checks to the proper therapy outlets.

I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone that has made this possible and to all of my sponsors who said hell yeah when I asked them if they could help me with this.

Thank you guys for supporting this cause and if you could help spread the word that would be amazing. If you have any questions at all please feel free to email me directly at kwarnermtb@gmail.com or comment on this story and I will do my best to answer any questions.

Much love to all of you guys!

Sincerely, Kyle Warner

Second picture down is literally my Grandmothers trailer park.

f*ck pinkbike that there are only 5 comments.

We all whinge about wheel size and shitty overpriced (obviously overpriced 'the emperor is naked) wheel sets but five people check in after this kind of disaster?

Kind of seems like most pinkbike users are a little c*nty. A little selfish. A little more concerned with their whip than real life or how they ride.

Gauntlet is thrown down. I'm sharing this everywhere, donating like crazy, and in the mean time I'm riding my **** off so that the next time an arm chair warrior whinges in my direction I can direct them to footage of what a wallride on a DH bike at 45mph looks like.

Thanks Kyle! My wife is licensed therapist and donates a lot of her time in Paradise, so this is close to home. Your heart and recognition that mental healing is one of the most, if not the most important process of healing, is on point and much needed! Way to leverage your gifts to help in the healing process. Rad move Kyle!

I'm in. Let me know how I can donate some MTB parts or my pro mechanic skills to the high school team. I'd invite everyone to ride our trails here at Lake Oroville, but they are still mostly closed, 2 years after the spillway disaster. I rode through Cherokee yesterday, and saw the damage there. I'm still not prepared to go visit Paradise yet, but I should, just to support the few businesses that are open.

Front page! Nice work! Donate! Recovery is not just about rebuilding structures, its about the support needed for rebuilding lives.

Yeah thanks! It’s just a regional post but I’m really hoping that if pinkbike sees a positive response there is a chance that it could get pushed further. It definitely helps spread the word a ton!

Thank you so much for supporting our community after this disaster and trying times. I just went to my familys place in Concow to scavenge for relics. Pulled out a bunch of my grandmothers ceramic pottery which made it through and an old cast iron stove that used to be in my grandparents house. Also found my grandfathers old bench vice and some radio flyer wagons that made it through,(minus a little rubber and some paint).

It’s hard to even fathom what 20,000 houses being burnt down really even means. That isn’t just a house, it’s a sanctuary where people have lived, loved, laughed, and shared so many important memories over the years. I’m really sorry for your family’s loss. Thanks for sharing your story

I spend $10 on such stupid crap compared to this, great idea, looking forward to supporting.

"Wait, what? Why was this only posted regionally, again? The most costly natural disaster of 2018(19.5 billion dollars), in the world but... it's only worthy of regional viewership? PB, I love you but let's do better!

Thanks man, just trying to help in whatever little way possible. I was hoping pinkbike could share the message across the whole site but they were only able to share it regionally. Fingers crossed we can get some more exposure and hit our goal!
