Da Bomb Recoil DH Chain Guide

We all know there are some real fancy chain devices out there and many at a premium price. What if you are on the second step of the ladder? We tend to show you the latest gold plated parts, but how about the real bread and butter products? The everyday ones that will get and take a hammering.

Here is one of those exact products from our friends at Da Bomb.

No ISCG tabs on your bike? Do not worry though as the BB mounting adapter plate comes as standard. That is worth at least a round of drinks.

Just make sure you keep that adapter as you never know when you might need it.

photo
Floating jockey wheel in there.

That wheel's pretty well protected in there and rolls like a dime, whilst new. Only time will tell after a season of bad weather, grit and grime. It's not sealed it just floats side to side on the axle, this compensates for the moving chainline as your chain shifts sidewards up and down the rear cassette.

photo

The only downside is that the system only comes in ISCG Old, so double check against your frame. That said some riders prefer the flexibility of using the BB mounted model. In a big crash or case onto rocks the device under pressure can swivel around offering some "give". For those of you that have snapped your ISCG tabs off, you know exactly what we're talking about, don't you?

photo
Adjustable? Yes.
Available in two sizes:
89152 - Black 32-38t
60831 - Black 38-42t

photo

Retail price is £54.99
Now before some clever clogs comes on we all know Superstar do an almost identical device for more than a few pennies cheaper.

292grams with the BB adapter.

hey! not all of us live with mummy an daddy!! some of us are riding/racing on a budget cos we got grown up things like mortgages an kids to finance. (TOUNGE IN CHEEK ALERT Smile )
seriously theres obviously a market for budget parts that perform as well as the expensive ones, why else would E13 start selling a budget chain guide????????? cos they gonna loose out on customers if they dont
guess whats coming next?....... an MRP budget guide

how can companies justify well over £100 for what is just a piece of plate alu with plastic bits bolted to it?

  • 2 3

There's so many brand whores these days, "if it's not the best of the best it's not going on my bike!"

I've run this exact guide for the past year, albeit half of it I was injured, but during the 6 months of riding, never once went wrong, chain has never come off! I'd give this guide a 10/10, it's cheap and works and that's all you want.

EDIT: Just looking down at more comments my point is proven "With options like E.13 , Gamut , MRP , i don't see why ppl would buy this pos looking guide !" E.13, Gamut, MRP are all far more expensive Wink

im not saying its a pos, im saying they should at least make it come with a bashguard, or a taco would be best. its a DH chainguide- youre going to need to protect your chain. look at the first comment

@ jdilleen. its not being a brand whore, its that you get what you pay for. id rather spend more money to get a better guide, than a knockoff. you wanna spend 50 bucks on some C grade guide that is responsible for keeping your chain on, adn you finishing your run, fine, be my guest.

If you want a tacco plate, do what i did www.pinkbike.com/photo/4478701 Smile Works a treat.
  • 3 2
Straitline chainguide is by far the way to go! better than everything on the market.
  • 3 0
its the exact as the lg1 without a taco. not worth even buying
  • 1 0
i agree with skynyrd this is the same damn thing as an lg1
  • 1 0
@JDilleen ' "With options like E.13 , Gamut , MRP , i don't see why ppl would buy this pos looking guide !" E.13, Gamut, MRP are all far more expensive'
what about the e13 ls1 ht chainguide, the quality of e13 and for 10 quid less that this da bomb one

every product is a trash if not properly installed...
  • 3 0
the Straitline makes the most sense to me. A slider with no moving parts. If it's good enough for moto it can certainly handle bicycles.
  • 3 0
ive got one, and its really reliable, but i was gutted when superstar started doing em for £35!
  • 1 1
i guess some people on here don't like the truth i'm on a budget too thats why i got a blackspire chainguide which was £30 cheaper than that da bomb piece of s*** people are calling nice from CRC. but i do agree with you nojzilla when you say "how can companies justify well over £100 for what is just a piece of plate alu with plastic bits bolted to it?" because there is no justification for that i think chainguides shouldn't really be much dearer than the price of this da bomb guide which is £50. and what has mortgages got to do with chainguides? i have overdrafts but i dont broadcast it all over pinkbike.
  • 2 0
 You just did... haha
  • 1 1
details details lol i said that because there was no other way of saying i dont broadcast personal things that so called "grown ups" have only kids argue about pointless things like this so ill be the bigger person and let it go...
  • 1 1
Mate, i wasn't having a go, just pointing out the irony, i know it was unintentional.
  • 1 0
 fair enough man Smile
  • 3 1
it is the same as the superstar one but the superstar one comes with a bag of haribo and its £5 cheeper.
  • 2 1
did you not read the article where he says "Now before some clever clogs comes on we all know Superstar do an almost identical device for more than a few pennies cheaper. "
  • 3 0
Did you not notice the comment i was correcting and replying to?
  • 2 0
of coure i did not read it why would i waste my time reading about that. e 13 all day
  • 1 0
sorry craigee i wasn't talking to you.
  • 1 0
Ah, sorry for the confusion haha
  • 1 0
lol 8 grams lighter or £25 in your pocket????
  • 2 0
well its hard not to copy the e-13 LG1 when designing a chain guide, what else can you do to a chain guide ?
  • 1 0
 Orginal maker is Project-X, I think. allegro.pl/item979726551_project_x_ch_25_jak_e13_lg1.html. It's £29, and is piece of s... I've got it :-/
  • 2 0
Also, Superstar do an ISCG 05 model too. They rock!
  • 3 1
 the name...just cant handle...the name
  • 1 0
Cheiness shit, but works good allegro.pl/item988734658_napinacz_dartmoor_tracko.html it cost 33£ and 48$ Wink
  • 1 0
this is a dartmoor tracko Smile
  • 3 6
brands like da bomb are just mass produced and not innovative at all i mean look at their frames some hardtails look exactly like konas the full sussers look like azonics or at least one of them does they're just a brand making money by copying names that are more bigger and popular than themselves this chainguide is clearly modeled on an E 13 da bomb is nothing but a company full of cheap imitations
  • 4 3
 ye but... Konas snap =P
oooooo!!!
  • 6 2
 +1
  • 2 3

  • 2 1
this chainguide is very good I had one of the few times behind
  • 2 3
no better than anything els. id buy an ethirteen or gamut over this thing anyday.
  • 3 0
I'd bet that this is more resilient that the gamut guides, you hit those things once and they're done..
  • 1 1
well i bet thats the same with this one. it just looks cheep to me.
  • 2 4
Ugly as hell. Looks cheap and bad ! With options like E.13 , Gamut , MRP , i don't see why ppl would buy this pos looking guide !
  • 1 1
i thought the title said 'Da Bomb Recall DH Chain Guide'
  • 3 4
That iron cross shit is really lame, ton of neg props for the gayness
  • 1 4
Copycat design and heavy as a hippo, heared good reviews from people with lowstandrads but its a strait NO! from me.
