Press Release: Deviate Cycles

Introducing the Next Evolution in Single System Internal to External cable management - or NESSIE for short.

This 145mm travel bike casts a unique silhouette and like the frames that precede it, the Nessie continues to leverage the high pivot point suspension design - but also tackles the contentious subject of cable management.

bigquotesCable management continues to be a well debated topic within the mtb community. With a truly wireless solution being some years off, we focused on developing a streamlined design that still provides full cable accessibilityChris Deverson, Deviate Co-Owner and Lead Engineer

Internal Headset Cable Routing
The Nessie features an integrated headset with internal headset cable routing. Rising up from the headtube and extending over the stem, cables are routed through the frame and converge to a single point. This design allows riders to switch out components with ease by providing full cable accessibility. As a Scottish manufacturer of mountain bikes, the fluid neck took inspiration from one of the country’s most elusive yet famous creatures - the Loch Ness monster.

Trail to DH (TaD System)
With 145mm of travel, the Nessie is designed as your all-mountain companion - as comfortable on an all-day epic as an afternoon at your local bike park. The introduction of the TaD adjustment chip (Trail and Downhill) also allows you to seamlessly switch from trail to DH with ease, bumping up the rear travel to 165mm.

High Pivot Perfection
The Guide, Highlander and more recently the Claymore all feature Deviate’s precise High Pivot Point suspension design. The Nessie is no different. The rearward axle path moves the rear wheel proportionally away from impacts, taking the edge off angular hits and maintaining forward momentum. The subtle chainstay growth increases stability the further into the travel you go, and the overall effect is a hugely controllable and plush ride. Meticulous positioning of the idler allows for superlative anti-squat and anti-rise characteristics.

Geometry
The Nessie attempts to cater to all with the inclusion of the TaD adjustment chip (Trail and Downhill). This can take your bike from a trail whippet to something that wouldn’t be out of place on the DH world cup circuit. The TaD adjustment chip is located in the top tube of the bike and can dramatically alter the bike's geometry from a tame beast to a wild monster. The one bike quiver killer to rule them all?
