Leominster, MA (April 20th, 2009) – May has not yet begun and e*thirteen athletes are already picking up medals left and right. The first round of the World Cup circuit, held in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, ended with three of the four gold medals earned by e*thirteen riders. Last weekend’s California based Sea Otter event concluded with e*thirteen riders winning four of the five gravity events.Pietermaritzburg’s 4X event had rock sections, jumps and was very vast, reminiscent of a mini downhill track. Defending World Cup champion, Anneke Beerten of the Netherlands, easily made it to the finals and was followed by second-place winner, Fionn Griffiths of Norco World Team. No stranger to downhill courses, Jared Graves felt at home on the 4X taking the win. Defending World Cup champion Rafael Alvarez earned a spot on the podium as well. The Spaniard earned the bronze.

The turnout for the first round’s WC downhill race was impressive, with the total fan attendance surpassing 16,000. Britain’s Tracy Moseley, riding for a new team and on a new bike, started the World Cup circuit with a bang. She celebrated her thirtieth birthday by winning by an astounding six seconds. “It was the perfect start to my season and for Trek World Racing.” Tracy said of her win, “I have felt great on the e*thirteen-equipped session 88 right from day one, so it was nice to consolidate that feeling with a win at my first World Cup.” Sabrina Jonnier of France, also riding a new bike, took home the bronze for her Rocky Mountain-Maxxis team. Fionn Griffiths earned her second podium spot of the weekend by placing fourth in the DH event. The Canadian CRC sponsored rider Claire Buchar finished with her first ever podium spot by placing fifth!

After taking the 2008 season off, Michael Hannah, the Australian riding for GT, proved himself to be a contender with a strong second-place finish in the men’s downhill race. Brit’s Steve Peat of the Syndicate earned the bronze. Former World Champions Sam Hill of Monster Energy/Specialized and Gee Atherton of Animal-Commencal earned fourth and fifth, respectively.

E*thirteen sponsored riders continued to gather momentum at last weekend’s Sea Otter Classic, held in Monterey, California. The Dual Slalom finals went off on Saturday night. Sam Hill, riding on his SRS+ equipped Specialized SX, came out with a vengeance and out pedaled the competition. Team America’s Cody Warren earned second place. Gee Atherton and Mick Hannah rounded out the podium with the fourth and fifth spots, respectively. On the women’s side, BMX bronze medalist Jill Kintner placed second while Jamis’s Kathy Pruitt, Mio Suemasa and CRC-Intense’s Claire Buchar finished off the podium.

Sunday’s downhill event proved to be another sprint track. Trek World Racing’s Tracy Moseley, racing on the brand new LG1+, won her second DH event as many weekends! Kathy Pruitt and Claire Buchar each earned a second podium spot for the weekend, placing third and fourth. Lisa Myklak of BlackMarket/Fox took home fifth place. GT’s Mick Hannah matched Tracy’s Gold Medal and won the men’s DH event. Tracy’s teammates Andrew Neethling and Justin Leov took home third and fourth.

As e*thirteen riders continued to dominate the race tracks last weekend, back at headquarters, the entire e*thirteen components office team were assembling the brand new and made in the USA LG1+ chain devices. QBP and BTI will have LG1+ in house this week.

Congratulations to all of the riders for their great efforts and phenomenal results. We also want to extend a very big thank you to lead e*thirteen technician and factory sponsored rider Heikki Hall. Heikki Hall, along with supplemental support staff Trevor Martin and Logan James, put his own racing plans to the side and spearheaded the support for our riders, both pro and amateur, at last weekend’s Sea Otter. Just another example of how e*thirteen provides more onsite technical support than any other chain guide company in the world!

I was surprised that E-thirteen is a "small, rider owned and operated company". I thought it was quite a huge buisness - what with the hundreds and thousands of superchargers and LG-1s we see around.

Or is this a branch of E-Thirteen?

"Small rider owned company" means that all 7 of us eat, live and breathe mountain biking. Everything we put out is made in the USA (mostly here in Mass, a stone throw from our office) and assembled in house. Everything is checked for quality before it leaves the door.

The chain guides don't make the riders faster. Who won? You left that out because if it was Greg Minnar, I will be laughing at your poor advertisement.

its not supposed to be a race report - its just advitising. I like e13, i think their shits great! all my bikes run e13 - but i also think the only reason theyre on the podium so much is because pretty EVERYBODY runs e13 guides.
