On-One is a British mountain bike brand based in Sheffield. Run by riders for riders. We’ve never been afraid to do things our own way, which is why we’ve been making ground-breaking bikes for 15 years. From steel singlespeeds to carbon long-travel hardtails, from Ti ‘cross bikes to alloy fat bikes, we’ve been there. We don’t have a favourite wheel size or frame material – it’s all about what works best with the minimum of fuss; we like to keep things simple.

All our bikes are designed and developed in-house and built to order right here in Sheffield.

On shoot for the Codeine

Introducing the Codeine. A true On-One suspension bike, made in our own unique way, designed from a piece of paper and crafted to be the bike we want to ride. The Codeine is available as a frame with rear shock and as a complete bike with SRAM’s X01 groupset. It’s a 29er, it’s got 140mm of front travel and 130mm of rear travel, it runs a single chainring up to 34 teeth, big tyres and it’s a whole heap of fun to ride.

On shoot for the Codeine

A big hitting 29er with pop and fun. Fitting big wheels, with clearance to run big tyres – even our 2.4in Chunky Monkeys - into the space normally occupied by 26in ones. So that’s 440mm chainstays, but with 130mm of rear travel to keep you out of trouble. Up front a 140mm travel Rockshox Pike scythes its way through the rockiest lines around. A single chainring drivetrain, those Pikes with their huge stanchions allowing amazing tracking.

Who’s It For? Trail riders. Gravity Enduro racers. People who like hitting things hard and fast, or who want a bike that’s capable of that. You can ride it on more or less any terrain – and we have.

You can’t run a front mech. Why? Because removing the front mech enabled us to design the bike to ride the way we want, without compromises. At the time of original design, we were all riding around with chain guides, but thanks to the innovation of SRAM we’re delighted to offer it with their X01 drivetrain, offering 1x11 with more than enough gears to get you through and over the biggest hills around, all on a chain-guide-free system.

The chassis is designed to be stiff and durable, and yet weighs under 7lb. Hand welded from custom formed 7005-T6 aluminium tubing, with CNC machined fitments, rolling element bearings, and torx bolts on all fittings. With development from our team, using construction techniques that our team have used on enduro, downhill and trail bikes over the last decade. It’s all here in the Codeine, tuned and fettled to give you an amazing ride. We’ve had people refuse to give them back during testing. It’s been amazing.

Oh dear, it's gonna kick off on here, a 29er you can shred. I'll come back in a couple of days to see how you all got on:-)

How tall is Craig and what size is he on in the vid?

Well done to On-One for firstly making a good looking 29er, something most companies can't manage and secondly for making a MTB video that was actually good and showed speed as it is (not just slo-mo everything) and that riding bikes is fun. That's the first video that I've watched all the way through since the Earthed series.....more please.

Get that bike out in smaller wheels and I might just get one, but if any 29er is going to tempt me to the dark side, it's going to be this one.
  • + 3
I agree, I liked the way it showed and gave you a feel for the speed the riders were doing, I don't mind a bit of slo-mo but there is often too much. Don't be thinking 29ers are the dark side, its just another option to enjoy a trail in a slightly different way to a 26in, its still all good fun! And just cos' you ride a 29er, it doesn't mean you cant ever ride a 26 again does it. I like both for slightly different reasons. Rally good vid and nice looking bike.
  • + 1
I'm seriously tempted by one actually. Just lacking the cash unfortunately Frown

Great vid, great tunes, great pub, great tits, great bikes, Great Britain. Pretty sure he's just single handedly cemented the future of 29s, simply by whipping and scrubbing lol. Oh and riding like a bat out of hell. They can be fun! This is definitely a video to link your mates to if they think 29s are 'gay'.

Until recently I was happy on my 456ti and would've seen this and thought, hmm nice bike but I'm fine but last week I PB'd a piece of single track trying out my mates (to big) XL gyro for the first time. Now I'm gagging for this!! Great vid, great riding and bike looks like it may be set to be the Ford escort of the mtb world..

So based upon the very above marketing I finally discovered what I was doing wrong all that time.

I never had a binge session before an epic ride. Mistakes, huh?

 Awesomness!
  • + 3
That's how you whip a 29er! BOSS riding and filth tune. Best I seen for a long time....respec

Have any short arses bought a 29er yet? Me being one I'm just not convinced it would fit!! Would I have to buy an extra small??
  • + 3
Before the negative prop nazis start I forgot my LOL at the end!!
  • + 2
I was at cannock for the leisure lakes demo day and tried an intense carbine and it was amazing! I thought the same thing as you cos I'm 5'7" but actually fit really well!
  • + 1
Having read a lot of the wheel size testomonials it does appear that choosing wheel can sometimes be a bit like choosing frame size, other than for specific applications (like 29 for proper xc) it seems the bigger you are the easier you tend to get on with big wheels. Which begs the questions: would buying the frame and speccing it with 27.5s a) be a viable option for smaller riders b) mess the geomtry up that much to make it an issue and c) would it undermine the point of the bike? My thinking comes from having run 24s on a few 26 jump bikes in the past, it just dropped the whole bike an inch and made it more twitchy and playful.
  • + 1
I'm 5'7" on a medium transition 29er, the wheel size makes absolutely no difference, it's just stupid fast and gets wild a lot because you've got far more speed than you should ever have on little bike trails. Lols
  • + 1
Yeah I suppose the exception to the rule is some people will like it and some won't. For my money it's just a different feel, I loved it.
  • + 2
I hate to be the person to ask this, but what is the song in the riding segment? Sorry.
  • + 2
It is "It's Too Bad" by Paper Hotel.
  • + 1
 Thank you.
  • + 1
Whats the intro song as well? The tunes were almost as sick as the riding!
  • + 2
The first song was Ian lefkowitz, Weekend
  • + 1
 Thanks man!
  • + 3
Looks like a giggle riding that bike
  • + 4
 Gutted....No XL
  • + 2
Agree... 29ers are perfect for us lanky types.
  • + 4
Let me look at numbers and see how the L's sell. We're listening.
  • + 1
I'd buy this in a second if it were a shade longer in reach, 450-460mm would be great for me.
  • + 1
@Shedfire - just saw your reply - awesome, thanks for keeping an eye n that, I'd be seriously temted by one of these if it was in my size.
  • + 2
Nice vid and bikes! I recognise the first part of the vid being up Mam Tor, Castleton but where is the rest of it filmed?
  • + 1
Some was in the Riverside, Kelham Island in Sheffield. There was another section in the Peak District and in Bringewood in Shropshire
  • + 1
Had a very quick go on one of these at the Tri and cycle show manchester, the guy said a 650b version was in the works. This true?
  • + 1
 Lies.
  • + 1
Haha fair enough. Will be getting one regardless Smile
  • + 1
Does this mean that 26 is now actually dead, this is the same dude was telling us they weren't not so long ago!
  • + 2
Sod it, I'm sold, selling all my stuff and my nan..
  • + 2

yeah how is it so cheap for all the components they're putting on it... makes me wonder about the quality of the frame
  • + 2
Your buying straight from them cutting out the middleman. Same trick as Canyon YT and even Empire are employing.
  • + 1
Bloody ell thats a lot of bike for the money !!
  • + 1
Long travel 29ers are sick! That riding was filth.....!
  • + 1
Wow- is it sped up? Really inspiring little video
