Round 6 - Valemount, BC

July 16th

We're heading north! It's time to get back between the tape for RD #6 of the 2023 We Are One Canadian Enduro League Presented By Leatt. This weekend we're excited to head to yet another brand-new, never before raced location and shine a light on another incredible mountain biking community, Valemount.

Race Preview

Over the last few years, Valemount has quickly become a must-ride location on every mountain biker's bucket list. The trails are the pride and joy of many in the Valemount community. As cliché as it sounds, the trail system has a bit of something for everyone, from some classic flow with the best berms in the north, to some steeper, techy trails that will keep any rider on their toes. Situated just minutes from the center of Valemount, the bike park has a network of nearly 100 trails.

This weekend's course will cover 35km of Valemount's best across 5 stages, with a steady 1300m of climbing. At this point in the season, 1300m should nothing though right? This single black diamond graded event will treat riders to trails including Stinger, Coaster, Womp Rat, and more. The trail crews have been out, and the trails are looking absolutely incredible. With such a varied course, RD #6 will not only be a great day of racing for seasoned riders, but also for those wanting to dip their toes into the world of Enduro. While Peak Shuttles will be on hand for practice laps, race day will be all pedal powered.

Fresh of an Enduro World Cup podium finish and currently second overall, Canadian Enduro League Rider Rep, Elly Hoskin, will be hosting a pre-ride of several stages on Saturday morning at 9am from the Valemount Mountain Bike Parking Lot. If you're looking for some pals to practice with, this will be a guaranteed good time. Check out the race book for all the information.

A massive thank you to Tourism Valemount, VARDA, and all of the local trail crew and volunteers for helping to make this weekend one for the history books.

Red Bull Downtime Stage

This season we are stoked to introduce the Red Bull Downtime Stage at select events. The Red Bull Downtime Stage is an integrated special stage within the event, giving riders an extra chance to win some epic prizes! To compete in the Red Bull Downtime Stage, you must be an amateur competitor and fully complete the given race. To be considered eligible for winning the prize, you must also be 18 years or older. The fastest amateur Male and Female rider of the Red Bull Downtime Stage will win one (1) FORB/VIP ticket for Red Bull Joyride 2023/2024, and a unique Red Bull Downtime Stage medal!

For RD #6, the final stage of the day, Stage 5 will give riders their chance at a VIP ticket to Red Bull Joyride.

Red Bull Downtime Stage Rules:
• You must register and complete the entire CEL event.
• Racers are only eligible to win the prize once. If a racer who has previously won holds the fastest time at a second event, they will forfeit the prize and the next fastest person will be awarded.
• Racers must be 18 years of age or older at the time of competition.
• This prize has no cash value.
• This prize only includes one (1) FORB/VIP ticket to Red Bull Joyride 2023/2024 in Whistler, BC. No travel, accommodation or other expenses are covered.
• Racers in the pro categories are excluded from this prize.

McElhanney Stage

We are proud to have McElhanney Ltd. as the official Outdoor Recreation Consultant of the Canadian Enduro League. They offer many trail-related services, from trail planning, design, and construction administration, to Section 57 applications. With an even broader list of services such as engineering, geomatics, planning, and more. The McElhanney Stage of each race is chosen to highlight a unique experience for riders and often includes unique trail features. This stage will feature more opportunities for racers to get photographed by our media team, so make sure you’re smiling!

For RD #6, the McElhanney Stage will be the 1 km-long Stage 3. Carrying speed through turns will be the name of the game for this all-out sprint.

Course Information

Trail Love

The incredible crew of local trail builders have been working hard to make sure that this year's event is one to remember. They have been out on course prepping trails, building turns and making sure everything is running the best it ever has! They are an unbelievable volunteer-run organization - committed to the community and building new incredible trails every year. We're incredibly grateful for the VARDA's support, and we know the impact that these events can have on the trails. To help offset this, we contributed to pre-event trail maintenance and will be donating 10% of the registration revenue back to the trails.

Want to support the trails yourself? Head over to the VARDA website and grab yourself a membership!

Volunteers

These events do not happen without our dedicated volunteers! They are quite literally the backbone of the event. A huge thank you goes out to all of the volunteers that have already signed up to help out.
