After a couple of stops on Vancouver Island to ride Mt Prevost and Shawnigan Lake, I end up near Cumberland in the Comox Valley to finally ride with Mark Matthews. The first time and last time I had rode with Mark, I broke my scapula on a blue trail in the Whistler Bike Park...
For this video we ride one of Mark's favourite trails which mix fast and flowy, some jumps and a few very technical sections.
What FUN!! Fun to watch, anyway. NOY SURE i have the skills or the gonads for that kinda work. Certainly not at those speeds. And good chance..., not at all. I love watching Remy's rides. Nice lessos on perspective. One of the hight points? REMY GOING BACK TO CLEAR THE TRAIL! YAAAA!!!
For those watching who always leave such stuff for somebody else to clean up - may this be a good lesson in MATURITY!
Surprising how much work can be done with a small folding saw - even if it's just for clearing some limbs, so others can more easily climb/ride over or under that 4' windthrow stem laying across the trail.
Agreed, such good trails that have somehow stayed on the DL for quite a long time now. Definitely for the best as they are a bit steep and fall line (at least sections are) to be sustainable if they became well known.
@Grady-Harris: OH good eye! Also..not the same bike at all is it. That'll teach me to speak up without watching the video (again, also again on a Remy video...Sorry Remy!)
Just noticed the left foot forward- always feels more natural to me to ride that way- like regular foot skateboarding. But I’ve talked to some experienced riders that disagree
