Would you ever guess that there’s a mountain biking oasis just 90 miles from Atlanta?
The latest film in our For The Love of Dirt film series visits Mulberry Gap Adventure Basecamp, which sits right on the doorstep of this north-Georgia gem.

You’ll pedal through this rocky, rooty, and steep riding area and see some of its literal and figurative high points.

“There’s a lot for any kind of rider. There’s a lot of really good forest roads and gravel roads if you want to do that. There’s a lot of singletrack that’s accessible rolling straight out of the driveway here.”

Mulberry Gap is a unique place run by awesome people. Go for the riding, stay for the food.

Bear-hoti, baby! Love that area and blessed to live not too far away from it.

Bear creek is by far the most overrated trail I’ve ever ridden. Probably fun 30 years ago on a full rigid…

@MillerReid: Sorry to hear it disappointed you.

@MillerReid: Yes 30 years ago it was very raw and alot of fun on a ridged bike. Now it's all been neutered and all the main roots and rocks have been removed. But still a fun trail to ride.

@weaselssubie: There are still those 2 switchbacks, and the spot before the stream has a spicy section. I still find Bear Creek worthy of attention, especially if you climb of from Mulberry Gap and the hit P1&2, but I'm just old, been riding North Georgia since 1985 (Stanley Gap was my first) and I don't want my rigid back....lol

BTW, Mulberry Gap has some trails and a small pump track onsite that are fun to play on.

As a North Georgia native, it brought me great pleasure to see my backyard up on Pinkbike's home page!

Love Mulberry Gap and so happy for Andrew and Kate to see it featured. However, I'm struggling with the narrative behind the footage. Why they were carrying all the bikepacking gear but never were shown using it. Were they bikepacking and only stopping over at Mulberry? And why were they so often shown on a major road? They shouldn't on be on roads if they're riding anywhere near Mulberry. Just scratching my head but not expecting any answers.

It’s right on the TNGA route.

From the top of P3 to Fort Mountain, you’re on some roads. Same from Fort towards Windy Gap.

@AndrewFleming: Yes but not the roads in the video. From P3 to Fort Mountain, which I don't think they were traveling (only from P3 to Cohutta overlook) its on a ridgeline road not on the flat like in the video. And Windy Gap is a gravel road from Mulberry Gap with a short road section back (maybe that was the footage). Maybe I should just shut up and appreciate the exposure while realizing they were showcasing the best footage they captured.

@deez-nucks: I'm well aware. I was just struggling to put together the story. All the rides they highlighted were single day rides departing from MG (P3/Overlook, Bear Creek, and Windy Gap) so why carry all that gear?
Mulberry is definitely a special place and can be both a destination for single day excursions and also great as a luxury stop over on a multi-day route so I guess I was hoping to hear more about how they were going to use their gear.

@teamsmith: I asked on the YouTube posting and they said that they rode from MG up P3 to Fort Mountain, camped 1 night then did Windy Gap to Bear Creek and back to MG. While I don't know what routes they took, there are a few sealed roads between some of those.

Truly a one-of-a-kind of place! Awesome people that treat and feed you so well! I love it so much I go several times a year. There are other trails not far from Mulberry Gap that are fun too. Love the Gap!

Glad to see our neck of the woods featured on PB. The descent of Pinhoti 2 is still one of the most fun I have ever had on a mountain bike; it is not technical but it is a thrill if you ride it at speed.
