Reason is, here in the US, when riding on the road, you make hand signals with your left hand. You generally don't wanna hit your front brake with one hand on the bars! Across the pond, you crazy Brits drive on the wrong side the road! So ya gotta make hand signals with the right hand. So the front brake goes on the right

And I personally run moto brakes, cuz I'm cool like that
