Video: Kirt Voreis Rides Bikes of all Types in 'Right Here, Right Now'
Rode with him for most of a week when I did Summer Gravity Camp at Whistler a while ago. Not only is he an insanely good rider and coach but that friendly, fun and honest guy you see in his videos is the genuine real deal. Someone in our group showed us an old NWD stunt (ladder bridge to gap to rock ride) and Kirt says "cool, want me to hit it?" Quickly scopes it out, clips in and nails it first try. Spends the next 30 minutes figuring out how to climb out of the gully with his bike!

Lawsuit Claims Search & Rescue Delays Contributed to Mountain Biker's Death
@WAKIdesigns: That's just not true. We sacrifice all sorts of liberties and rights in exchange for somebody else providing equivalent services. The challenge is determining where negligence and responsibility cross over.

Lawsuit Claims Search & Rescue Delays Contributed to Mountain Biker's Death
@doe222: that's not 100% accurate. Phones can receive GPS coordinates but not broadcast like a true GPS device. You need an app that sends your GPS location via cellular data service (like find my phone). If you do run a tracking app it will show your last global coordinates when the phone went out of coverage. For a 3rd party to track a random phone they'd generally use triangulation from multiple cellular points.

Lawsuit Claims Search & Rescue Delays Contributed to Mountain Biker's Death
@jeremiahwas: Agreed. You can't expect someone in the family's position to have a rational, logical response. You can disagree with their legal actions but I think we'd all feel anger and great loss in this sit

Interview: JC Canfield of High Above Talks Hip Packs, Domestic Manufacturing, & Why People Don’t Put Ideas on the Table
Fanny packs are great in the bike park when you don't want a full pack but need to carry a tube, CO2, lever, multitool and your wallet. Tuck under a jersey / in your waistband and you forget it's there. On the trail I don't see much advantage over a small pack like an osprey - slightly less sweaty maybe?

@Explodo: I'd say just because they're superfluous with wide range 1X's available. Cleaner cockpit, one less cable (now replaced with your dropper post!), less muck to clean after a ride, single point of control (hey, I still occasionally cross up my road bike from little to little when I'm not paying attention!)

@stinkbikelies: hesitant to get into it, as going right to "if you don't like *INSERT CONTENTIOUS ISSUE HERE* then get the hell out" is usually a sign of a divide to wide to bridge but... >> it's called freedom of speech in an open Forum where anyone has the right to type anything they want 1. Freedom of speech is not an absolute, carte-blanche freedom there are numerous exceptions on what you can say, such as hate speech, threats of violence and other limits. 2. The same freedom that allows you to voice your opinion cuts both ways; if you truly are a booster of free speech you better be prepared to defend people you don't like saying things you don't agree with. Now back to - what's the purpose of this website again? Oh yeah, mountain biking.
