The organisers didn't realise that the ambulance wasn't on course until after Jerome Clementz and Jared Graves had set off on the first transfer. The Superenduro pickup was dispatched to collect them and bring them back to the start until the ambulance was in place, then, in the name of fairness, took them back out to where it picked them up so they didn't have to pedal further than the rest of the field.
