What a turd. Would ride one of these again happily. I would not buy it new though. No way in hell would I support such a crappy company like Commencal

Wow, that`s the first time hearing such a thing mate. Probably you`ev got a Monday or Friday frame. Although I worked my tits off fitting the cable housing but since then it works flawless....Fitted E13 chain tensioner with washers, running XTR crank, I can`t complain.
How could you snapped that chainstay? They look so massive and over constructed...
How come they had not sorted that out?

Yeah, I got some pics on here back in my muppet days, but the only muppet thing I did with this frame was buy the damn thing. I've been working on/building bikes for 5 years now. I'm a qualified engineer, I'm not a muppet now. This frame was just plain shit on so many levels. Every time I talked to Commencal about why they did certain things and how they could improve it they sent moronic responses. Clearly don't understand their products.

When I snapped the frame (riding XC) they said they wouldn't warranty it because there was no evidence I hadn't ridden it off some double on a DH track and cased it. That's literally what they said. I would actually argue the opposite of 'over constructed'. When I first bought the bike I identified that kink as a weak spot, and I watched it closely. Sure enough that's where it went kaput. A mate of mine called the distro and absently inquired (as a shop mechanic) about dealing with a cracked frame. The distro asked if it was the driveside chainstay, saying "that's where most of them go" (so obviously a known issue) yet played completely dumb when I actually went to file my official warranty claim: "nah mate never heard anything like that. You obviously rode it outside its intended use". f*ckwit.

FYI I didn't have trouble getting the cabling through. The issues I had was that the kink caused to much friction in the cable - even with new inner/outer. I had ghost shifting if I was pedalling while the suspension was active.

Really is a shame. I really liked the geometry and the suspension platform.
If I get the chance (and own a MIG welder) then I might buy another. I'll probably add my own external tabs and run the cables down the seat stays for less friction. I'll also be able to beefcake that kink and whatever else snaps.

If you look through my other pics here I also had a Supreme. That cracked too. I have no idea why I bought this bike after that nightmare.

Appreciate your info mate, good to know what is going on out there. I have been loving mine, using it for XC mincing and park riding. I am not a pro at all, but I am sure my 100kg puts some hard time on it especially with my horrible landing technique :-). So far absolutely faultless.
Being honest before I bought I did my homework, went through a loads of forums but didn`t see anybody having same issue like you with the chainstay. I know pre 2010 models were shite though.
I will be defo looking into it after every ride, will watch it closly how it holds up...
Have a panel beater mate, might ask him to reinforce it :-).
Anway, thanks for your time sharing info and experience.
Love your Legend... absolutely my dream big bike....

What`s wrong with them mate? Mine works beautifully.....

 Mine rode beautifully.
Problems were mostly in the feature design rather than suspension platform/geometry design.
My front derailleur mount was incorrectly placed on the frame, chainguide tabs are too far inboard for single ring use (they're only compatible with a select few cranks), the internal cable routing was planned by a monkey, the driveside chainstay was also designed by a monkey. Taking that one dog leg there is too harsher bend which causes friction in the cable, also a huge weak spot and exactly where mine snapped. Brands like Nukeproof drop the drive side chainstay so that you still get the same crank clearance, mud clearance etc but doesn't create a weak spot.

Worst part was getting zero support and them not caring that my frame broke under warranty. 0/10 Commencal, would not support your business model again.
