As the race was heading for its conclusion on stage eight the weather decided it had other ideas, and the heavens opened. The downpour was so fierce that stage eight was cancelled amidst flash flooding at the finish line. Yet even such an immense downpour could not dampen spirits that were voted the riders' favourite in 2016.
