I really like it! It has a very lively ride, its quite is easy to whip around and xc/trail type stuff and it climbs great. Once you open it up however, it charges with the best of them, being ultra progressive i never feel a bottom out point and it just begs to catch air. I often find myself looking for new gaps on my local trails! You will be stoked. Word of advice: Stay up on the maintanence! The bushings need a little extra love.
I would say from what I've seen a full linkage overhaul is necessary every 6-8 weeks - based on riding 3 days a week pretty hard. The grease ports are a huge improvement! I would say hit it with the grease ports every month. However, a "linkage overhaul" on an altitude is a pretty easy affair. It doesn't require and special tools other than allen keys, and after a complete disassembly/clean/grease/re-assembally the bikes feel noticeably better. The number of washers, o rings, and bushing might be overwhelming at first but after a few tear downs its quite easy to get it back together. I maintain a rental fleet of Altitudes and Instincts on the North Shore, and am quite familiar with the frames. Ive been on the Rally since November now and Ive been riding the piss out of it! I can still confidently say its a fantastic bike. /novel
