 @Earthmotherfu: lol me too...

don't avoid my question....whats your biggest freshwater catch?

 @baggyferret: well, I only match fish really so in a typical summer autumn 5hr match on a good quality,well stocked and maintained commercial fishery, 70-110 is a regular feat (may not even get me a frame place). Winter spring on the same venues can see those weights level out to 10-20 lb with the flyer pegs (tight shoaling) 40-60lb.
Canals (if I visit) would probably see me get between 2 to 6lb in weight to see me in the money. I've gave up my long time love of river fishing due to the long walks. I have heard off a reliable source that the Trent around Holme Pierrepont and the city ground are giving up some huge weights of barbel with many running into double figure size fish.

 @Earthmotherfu: ah not too shabby mate, do you use a pole?
i used to carp fish, had few over 40lb (spain) then wanted catfish, had one over 146lb (spain) but now i just trout fish in the local streams, i love the tranquillity of it all..it's nice combining mountain biking with fishing and camping for a great few days out..tup

 @baggyferret: 146lb catfish! I would of fecked off back to the tent! Did you often sit in a bivouac for days? How do you pass the time when you can't get a take?
Now answer me honestly here...are you really ray mears? lol
Got plenty of rods, love the big splashing waggled for big carp off the top,straight lead in winter on a 8ft and yes I do fish pole.

 @Earthmotherfu: for real! my mate was a bit scared because you have to grab them by the lower jaw to pull them out, that thing was over 7 feet long! over half an hour to get it in!
you'd laugh at the hook length, 250lb braid, 6 foot long with a 2oz weight and a hook that would be good for shark! 28mm hallibut pellet, 12 of them in a loop, like a hair rig!
i love the sun mate so i was just chilling and also pulling in big carp all day long, not much time to waste!
ha ha i love ray mears, a hero! lol
ah now you're talking, fishing on the top for carp IS THE BEST.
