Wider lug spacing aka mud tire helps but it totally depends on the dirt and here it only appeared sloppy/gooey in spots. It appeared really hard packed and didn't have a lot of time to settle in. I've experienced rainy days at a local resort where the dirt seems very similar to how it was here, you could hook up and ride the river aggressively down the trail splashin everything. The sound is almost my favorite part.

 I wonder if its the tire compound or perhaps a spray that the team applies to them, but I don't think my tires ever stay clean of mud in conditions like this...
