"You need a XX SL derailleur" is something I heard quite often. I agree that it looks cooler than the GX derailleur, but I didn't need it to bring the weight down. The real weight difference between these derailleurs is in the cage and not the derailleur body. The SR52T cage from Ratio Technology brings the weight of the GX derailleur down to XX level.
