seems like a horrible idea to run ss on a dh bike. who doesn't shift whilest riding DH?

 Me.

 then you suck at dh

Are you seriously going to say that? You have no idea of the type of trails I ride. I'm running the rear in 8th gear. It's a tall ratio. Just making a comment like that proves how ignorant and immature you actually are.

just cause your in the 8th gear doesn't prove anything. and who cares about what trails. dh is dh and you need to shift every time you ride. if ss works for you then good, but i'm sure you would benefit from shifting especially if you race

 1) I don't race
2) I was just pointing out that I run a tall ratio
3) I don't need to shift with that tall ratio. I prefer to flow through the sections where most people come in hot and the lock out their brakes so I have enough speed at the end of the section that I don't struggle to get up to speed again.

if it works for you then that's good. just thought you would be better if you were able to shift since you ride dh with the stinky

Alright. For me shifting just takes away from the flow of the trail, and deraileurs are just another thing to break.

that inner tube job is the definition of ghetto.

legit way: take tube cut in half at valve stem, cut the tube length wise all the way down the tube. then wrap the tube around the chain stay

Yeah. Haha. I have electrical tape there now.

Get rid of the tube and use electrical tape...it's lighter cooler and more relable

is that an inertube strapped to your bike? as like an extra?
  • 1 1
The inner-tube is there to protect against chainslap.

 Yep. Wink

so, chain tensioners take the place of a derailer(obviousely), so, you can set it to the gear you want? but it cant move.... why not just stick with a derailer? i mean, im not bashing on it, im just wondering why you went the single speed rout...

I never shift, and single speed will require less maintenance. I'm going to get a Single Speed conversion kit soon so there is only one rear cog.

you should get some spacers to et rid of all those cogs

 I plan on doing that
