Well if you flip the links, left to right, right to left and reverse the direction the shock mounts too, you can fit a 9.5x3.0 shock in there, which is what i have(fox dhx). This combined with the upgraded and beefed up devo rear chainstay, and lots of screwing around with chainlength nets a very nice suspension setup, i get close to 9" rear, which i dont need but i can setup my sag a little better than with the stock setup and having that little extra doesnt hurt for when you screw a drop of jump up. In my opionion its totally worth it, bike handles like a dream, stickes to the ground in hard turns and flatout eats nasty terrain on the highspeed downs.

Yup with the fox front if works like a charm, like i said youll never use it all up but its nice to have, and you can set your sag way better and shock actually works better through its range cause you have a longer stroke, with the stocker you are so limited in how you set your sag properly and well such little stroke you get out of the stocker, it works like a charm.

sorry to spam you with questions, it's just such a cool build, is the devo chainstay any longer/shorter, or is it just beefier? I was thinking of doing this when I get around to buying a proper DH shock rather than the xc air can I have right now.

No problem, well the devo chainstay is an upgraded link, just beefier than the old one, mine cracked about 3 months ago, its not longer at all. Just flipped links and the devo rear chainstay makes it worth it, i was gonna buy another frame but after upgrading shocks this year with the dhx rear and the 36 Van up front im in love with the old thumper again lol. Totally worth it than screwing around with a short stroke shock
