Yeah, commuting on a paved MUP I've learned that the best bell is the "ring-ring" type they put on kids bikes, because the "ping" kind that get advertised to super serious cyclists are entirely silent to anyone over 50ish.

The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly: Pinkbike Editors' Favorite Winter Riding Gloves

Yeah, I have a set of the Ranger Waterproof gloves for my commuter and the thumb seam blew out on the first ride. I sewed it back up myself and it's been good for a couple years, but that's pretty awful QC to be outdone by my sloppy stitches.

@sino428: 100% agree, I went to Whistler in 2022 with one of my old riding buddies and the Brodie was fine. Would I have liked bigger wheels for some of the post-crankworx braking bumps? Sure, but I had also aged a dozen years since my last trip to the bike park. I still see teenagers here riding VPSes older than themselves at the dirt jumps in the summer and they seem to have fun.

@sino428: 2004-2006ish is when the downhill world really calcified on the 8"/8" suspension, I still call my 2005 Brodie a Downhill Bike, even with the couple degrees steeper than modern head angle.

I mean, I still wear goggles and a half shell on the commuter in the winter, it keeps the wind out better than anything else I've tried.
