It has a chainguide and a tensioner because it's not a dirtjumpfully like the Kona Bass where has a one piece chainstay from the bottom brake until the rear axle. Cheers

Without tensioner the chain will brake when you use the rear travel. Without the chainguide the chain will fall off.

The chain can still fall off even though it's got a tensiner mine fell off with a tensiner on
