i like what you've done, i actually have a komodo too that i use for freeriding. still have that shitty launch rst fork but im looking to upgrade to a better single crown as said above, and getting a full suspension dakar bam 1 for downhill. sweet to see another jamis though, props man

Thnaks alot! the bike seems so much better with a good fork. what fork are you thinking of upgrading to?

i've taken a real liking to fox suspension and 36 vanilla or float would be awesome, im in the process now of converting to a single ring up front and putting an e13 guide on the bike to help with chain issues. i also upgraded to x.7 derailleur and plan to upgrade shifters and brakes too so the bike will be real setup when im done. i love the bike though. its a tank and you can huck it beat it and it really can take anything. the geo is sick on it too, feels like a dh bike, but it has all the benefits of a hardtail. love the bike

yeah same here. i have real bad chain problems with the front deraileur but put all of my bike money into the fork. im probably going to change to brakes before changing the drivetrain.

yeah the brakes definitely lost a lot of power over time and squeal like hell now, hopefully with christmas around the corner, i'll be able to finish up a lot of my build up and the bike should e sick by then. which fork did you put on there anyway?

 It is a marzocchi junior t. i think it is a either a 04 or 06.
  • 1 0
They're '04 Junior T's. And though I wouldn't recommend it on a hardtail, they're 170mm travel, less that what people are probably thinking it is, so It shouldn't be as bad as a lot of people think. And just for the record, I have a set of these forks too. And I also freeride a hardtail, but I ride Fox Vanilla 32's... Oh and sorry for grave digging a bit XD

 thats dangerous dude

 it isn't because it's a freeride hardtail

uuuuhm,.is it just me or the angle ooorrrrr does it have like a 36"TT er suntin ?

Fantaman is 100% correct. It's safe to put a dual crown fork on these types of bikes because it's a freeride hardtail.

Ahh, Pinkbikers and their ignorance...
  • 2 1
Ok woody,.fair enough! But how many ppl do *you* know that freeride a hardtail?
  • 2 0
Quite a few actually. None of which have Pinkbike.

 i do
  • 1 1
freeride hardtail?, would nudge closer to hardtail DH!!!, even then, i would feel more confident freeriding on single with less travel than dual with 200+

i got the fork for free and the crappy RST launch that came with seized up. i think a good single crown would be better, but i can't afford a new fork.

ahhh how about advertising here on Pb to trade/sell it to get yer single crown? see what yer fellow PinkBikers have to offer,..worth a shot I think. Im about to offer up a frame I have to trade for a shock for a new bike I have now.
  • 1 0
i'll look at that but i just had my front wheel rebuilt with a new hub for a 20mm thru axle. are there single crowns that can take that? i dont feel like dealing with another wheel rebuilding.
  • 1 0
lots of rochshox have 20 mm thru's, but they get pretty pricey at after market
