do you guys sell any free coaster hubs for mtb..if so how much..if not why not ..lol
  • 1 0
No, but KHE does. Ask any of your bike shops if they use QBP as a distributor. If so, then they can order one for you. They look like THIS.

ya the Gisha lol i got the front one already on my bike and was going to order the KHE gisha ..but was looking around to see...and there the only one for mtb all the others are for 14mm axles not 9mm..ya i will get that one

well atomlab should make and sell one better and cheaper.. hint, hint, lol

i would buy atomlab over khe

lol this is one of my rides

i custom built the rear 24 pimp my self....after having to repair it due to the original owner had it built with the wrong nipples..so i ended up ripping 5 nipples of them right trough the rim before i noticed they were not your torque nipples..luckily your wheels are tough and no damage was done to rim or holes...i then went and bought the proper nipples and rebuilt it

and man it rocks built snowflake..very solid wheel in 24" with this lacing pattern..i have rode the rear for half of last year and had to not true it once since i rebuilt it.....

Yeah, that bike is bad ass! I've seen a few people try and run standard nipples in torque rims. Not good. People look at the size of our torques and think they must be heavier. They aren't. They are lighter than standard steel nipples and will not break or strip like standard nipples. It's the way of the future!

I've never had to re-tru any of mine. I used to always carry a spoke wrench with me before I started riding them. Now I don't need to.

well they are the best rims out there for the $...hands down...tough as nails..and the only wheel i would ever ride for hardcore park and street ridding...i also have Bombshell signature wheels and they don't even compare to Atomlab Wheels.....PROPS ALL THE WAY ATOMLAB for this...

More or less, it's just a matter of what other companies are willing to shell out to have them made. Some people complain about the cost, but truth be told, our rims are expensive as hell to be made. Our retail is only a couple bucks above our cost. We could easily switch to a lower end rim, make the price cheaper and sell thousands more every month, but there is no quality in that, and quality product is something we care very, very much about.
  • 1 0
well there way cheaper than my Bombshell set and way tougher..honestly they are expensive but..you paying for quality..and well thats well worth it to have a wheel you can trust to hold out....please don't ever out source your wheels to make them cheaper...cause your wheels are what makes Atomlab the best company...

i had a geisha mtb on my dmr transition. not going to lie was the worst hub ive ever owned. engagement was chopping and was a guessing game. very low quality bearings play in the hub was endless after very minimal use. it was first generation so maybe thats the reason, i serviced it a couple times and sold it to a friend, he hasnt had many issues with it what so ever.
  • 1 0
well i do want one but not sure if i wanna spend 200-300 on a geisha hub..cause there are a few very good ones that are cheaper and way better but only for 14mm drop outs..me i was think of buying a good bmx 14mm one and then have the axle machined in to a 14mm slotted axle instead of 14mm round then it would fit in my mtb frame.also i just noticed that geisha freecoaster hub internals and not good and they sell the hub complete with old cheap internals..and sell the better up to date internals separately for another $90..so $170 for the hub and $90 for better internals to have a good one...not sure ..i would rather go bmx..but at 14mm it wont fit so i would have to have the axle slotted..now thats a problem too cause to shave the axle down to a slotted 14mm it need to be a solid axle not a hollow one...and i think most if not all axles are hollow these days..so guess i would need to find a sold axle that would fit a bmx freecoaster hub first....or if you know of any freecoaster hubs that have a solid 14mm axle..or even one i could swap out the hollow one for a soild one...or are they all hollow and is it so that you can only use free coaster axles with the free coaster hubs.can it be swapped out on some models....

if its just a easy a few axle mods i will go bmx but if not i have to go with the gisha since thats the only mtb one on the market that i know of..all the rest are 14mm and bmx

i never had one but bin wanting one for 2 years now ...and will soon have one i hope...

bmx spacing and mtb spacing are different.....
  • 1 0
You can run a 110mm hub on a 135mm frame. 99.9% of all bmx hubs have a long enough axle. All you do when you build the wheel is dish it over like you normally would on on a 135mm, and add some spacers. Before KHE built a 135mm freecoaster, this is what we used to do. For multispeed cassettes on i35mm hubs we would simply take one gear out and insert a spacer. This was called a "neutral" gear, and we could freecoast on that.
  • 1 0
ya but for the "neutral" gear set up, don't you need a shifter to put it in the neutral spot..i would imagine thats the only way to get it in neutral right...hmmm not a big fan of adding a shifter to my brakeless riot bike lol...and for the bmx hub the axle is usally 14mm not 9mm so how does it fit the rear drop outs..14mm is to large for the rear drop outs on my riot bike for sure..and i can't file it out wider there is not enough room on the drop out.there very small...me i was thinking is take a solid 14mm axle and grind it flat on top and bottom to make it a 9mm high but still 14mm wide..its called a slotted axle like that..they used to make them a few years ago i had a BFR set with them..it's so you could ride a 14mm axle in a 9mm drop out..but in the long run i may just get the geisha and build it to my atomlab 24 pimp rim..it looks to be the best idea..but i hear many bad reviews on that geisha hub....not sure though...man i want the freecoaster hub but don't wanna shell out a bunch of cash just to be disappointed with the quality of the hub...

Of course you would ned a shifter. As I said, that application would be for multi-geared bikes.
  • 1 0
yeah of course you could ad spacers to that hub, but then your loosing allot of strength since your bearing load is becoming more narrow you get loss in stiffness, loss in bearing life. if your going to spend 200-300 bucks on a hub may as well get the real deal? right?
  • 1 0
ya your right i think i will try out a used one to see how it is..before diving right in on a new one..
