One of the few reasons I could think of this to be a bad idea, is what if an even more awsome bike came out and you were already tied in? There wouldn't be much that could be done. Also, I don't see why a deposit is truy necesary, I totaly agree with what you said about there being few of these on the used market later on, so I see no downside to someone backing out, because it would be very easy to sell it off at the end of the season anyways, you just might have to hang onto it for longer before a buyer came along.

mtnjane you are completely right. It's a horrible idea.
Hey webhead I just bought a new 2010 GMC 3/4 ton, I am going to drive it until November and than i'm thinking about selling it. You want to buy it? I'm not too sure how many miles will be on it? Or how it will look? But I am sure it will still run. I will sell you the rights to it if you want? We'll make an "agreement" first.
  • 2 5
I have no interest in a GMC truck, so no.
  • 3 0
Who the hell would ever take this deal? You would have to be a retard to ever take this deal, and if you do both the buyer and seller should be shaped.
  • 2 1
Dammit... I laughed so hard reading the 'back and forth' between webhead and gregmazo I spilled my beer...

( if you were closer to me.. Id throw you a cash deposit on this bike... but your not... so I wont)
  • 1 1
Yah, that was a bit of fun, wasn't it?
  • 3 1
woah nice rig bro, why would you sell this so soon?

flag webhead (Apr 16, 2010 at 22:08) (Below Threshold)
I'm only offering the 'rights' to buy it in November.
  • 7 0
Right to buy? LOL sounds alot like call option trading.
Unfortunately a 1000$ down payment on a second hand bike- and not even an immediate purchase- the right to buy it later, is a joke. Unless you sign a LEGAL (court supported) document that cannot be broken (unless you want to pay back all the cash or get f*cked in the ass), then you could simply take anyone's 1000$ and just spit on the 'document'. How the hell is anyone going to believe you're going to follow through on your word?

dhrunner - you're right, and that's why I've created one (re: agreement) for both parties to sign.

PS I see you're 17, so you have lots of experience with these sorts of legal agreements do you?
  • 8 0
You failed to miss my point so I'll restate it. Why would you give a shit for the agreement? You could just say 'f*ck it' and have the 1000$ and sell the bike in whatever poor 'running' condition. What would you define as great? A bike that simply rolls on wheels?

Oh I see you're quite the astute detective. Calling other people out on being narrow minded and ignorant? Let's not be too hypocritical here haha.

Like I said dhrunner, you're right - you know me so well! I'm a complete ass and would certainly say "f*ck it" as you put it, and take someone's money and run. Except for the fact that I'm a home owner (meaning I won't me running very far when the guy knows where I live) and am a professional person not looking to burn bridges.

none of you know me at all! Folks I've sold my previous bikes/items to often become pals, and come riding with me.

Anyway, like I've said before, this banter entertains me, as there are people who aren't as close-minded as y'all and are in fact intrigued by the idea. In the end, I'm getting the word out that this bike WILL be available in Nov., and WILL be in great shape when it comes time to move it.

Oh, that reminds me: I define a bike to be in great running order to be able to ride it the way it's meant to be ridden. If you read the advert you'll see I clearly state "I fix things when they break as I want to ride - can't ride a broken bike! I will also never downgrade when repairing my bike, sometimes it'll even be upgraded!"

What size is the bike and would you be able to ship it to London Ontario?
Or come here and meet face to face??
  • 1 1
It's a medium, and I'd be willing to ship to London, yes. However, as I live in Vancouver, no, I wouldn't be willing to meet you in London. Check out my profile to easily fond the ad that goes along with this photo for more details on this offer.

 OK thanks

Just wondering how do CRs even stop that bike it looks awesome but quite piggish...
  • 1 1
It's not actually - about 36lbs. The CRs rock man, you ridden 'em? They stop great! LOVE 'EM!
  • 1 0
ya i like them to so much more than the juicies!!!!!
  • 3 0
Why would I want to pre-buy your bike that you can trash between now and November. I guess maybe there's some sucker out there that will part with $3000+ not knowing what condition it will be in upon delivery.....
  • 2 4
Yes mtnjane, it'll pretty much be a box of rocks when I'm done with it. I'd never suggest to the buyer that we have an agreement in place as to what would be an acceptable condition, or deal's off. I'm an asshole like that. You're right.
  • 4 1
Wow, you're really making a lot of friends on here, huh. If that's the case, say it. Just still not sure who'd go for that.
  • 3 5
Yah, I really love being friendly to people who call me a 'moron' (RedShredder) and insult my idea (you). Funny thing is, I leave all these comments up, because I think it speaks volumes of the people posting them. I could just have easily deleted them all.

At the end of the day, I don't really care if someone does commit to buying this bike now via this idea, or if they just see that I have it and keep it in mind for the end of the season. I've had 3 people interested in the idea, one guy came to see the bike in person. I've had about a half-dozen others ask me to let them know when I'm "done with" it as they'd like to see it then to decide.
  • 4 2
haha, yeah speaks volumes for sure. Speaks volumes about the fact I have never once felt the need to comment on anything on PB until I saw your rediculous ad. What really made me want to comment was the way you replied to everyone that was voicing their opinion on your ad. I was pretty sure you were under the age of 20 but I soon found out you're in your 30's. Speaks volumes man.
  • 2 4
OK, whatever you (RedShredder) say sir. have a great day.

Yah, it's a new concept - get over it.

flag webhead (May 19, 2010 at 8:09) (Below Threshold)
Not sure what a goos is, but thanks......so far I've had lots of positive feedback (and some negative as some people are just close minded) on the idea. Time will tell.
  • 1 3
 its a good idear
  • 1 0
How do you like it? I haven't come across many reviews.
  • 1 1
I frigging love it! Will Kiley just get an '11 to replace it!
  • 1 1
FYI all www.pinkbike.com/buysell/554907 it's now for sale...now...that make sense??
  • 1 0
Hmmm I guess time did tell that pre-selling was a terrible idea.
  • 1 1
No, just time to sell now...
  • 2 2
Is it a D2 or Atlas, those are two different stem.
  • 3 8
flag webhead (Apr 12, 2010 at 21:46) (Below Threshold)
They're actually not - www.raceface.com/components/stems/atlas/d2 see even the URL says both in it. Click the URL and have a look for yourself. There you will see that in the upper right it says "ATLAS" and then the description says "D2". Sort of like how there's a Toyota car, then the Tundra truck. Get it?? Atlas is a product line and D2 is the model.
  • 7 2
I have no idea why you think I'm an ass-h, may be you don't get it.
Yes you're right about the atlas line, but the ad just stated atlas, and in this race face line, there is atlas AM, FR (direct mount) and D2, which are three different stem.
So don't get mad just because I ask a question (this is pretty stupid from you honestly), next time just specify it is a D2.
  • 2 10
flag webhead (Apr 13, 2010 at 6:27) (Below Threshold)
Well, I think it's stupidity on your part actually. Sounds like we've got ourselves a stalemate!! By the way, you still didn't answer my question; you just out finding apparent 'faults' in folks' posts, or do you actually have interest in this stem?
  • 7 2
You just don't understand you didn't specify, you just should admit you were wrong. I am interested into a atlas AM, now that I know yours is a D2, to answer your question, no. This is why I asked this simple question and you got 'mad' for pretty much nothing. Grow up.

flag webhead (Apr 13, 2010 at 9:39) (Below Threshold)
I think you grossly misinterpreted my response. I'm not mad, and in fact thank you for pointing out that there was information missing, but there really wasn't anything 'wrong' par say. And if you had opened the actual advertisement post, and clicked on the link I posted, you would have seen then EXACTLY what I'm selling.
  • 1 1
why are you going to sell it? its such a sick bike!!!
  • 2 2
I agree, it's a pretty dope bike, I'm loving it more an more every ride. That said, I like new bikes too! So I like to get a new bike every year, it's my drug, what can I say!!?
  • 1 0
 ahhahha fare enough
  • 1 2
well, if i met you, and you seemed like a good guy id do it. nice idea.
