it's awesome once you get used to it though. Its just like Photoshop in the fact that nobody ever uses 100% of what it can do.

You use it for animation and visual effects, I did my little video intro in AE. If you are keen to get into some more complex animations and effects and you can get you hands on a copy without too much costs ... then it's totally worth playing around with, but make sure you have the time to get through the steep learning curve.
