Do you know if this exo protection is coming on the high roller and 60A compounds.?

Already out in the Minion in (eww) 60a compound. No plans for High Roller just yet.

Ah i can't afford to run a tyre that lasts a couple of weeks.

Just got spoke to by a Maxxis employee who said I've been given the 60A. Not impressed at all, was convinced this was the case before as you can really feel the difference just from squeezing the tread. It also feels less 'sticky'. I just hate the whole premise of 60A. Trading grip for anything just doesn't cut it for me. Rolling resistance and life are far less important than me being able to actually corner without sliding out under heavy compressions.

Wow, I fully expected these to weigh less, especially with the kevlar bead.

Maxxis are always a little on the heavy side. But the sidewall is noticeably thicker, and there is no soft section on these where the sidewall starts to become the outer tread like on the Muddy Mary's.

Yeah the sidewalls must be thicker. The single ply wire beads were coming in around 866g. Thought these would be in the low 800s.

Think Snakeskin with a XC tube inside thick. It's noteably more. Especially with the tire being to a minor extent smaller.

these only come in the 2.5, as of now right? I would love to run these out here in AZ. but my frame wont fit the rear...

Keep in mind that a Maxxis 2.5" is really a 2.35"

These ones are at 2.4! And you only really need a 2.5 up front. The volume is the only thing it gives you out back. Stops it bouncing up as much.

do they plan to make these in a stiffer compound?
  • 1 0
60a? If so yes, they're already out.
  • 1 0
sorry, I meant are they planning to put out a softer version.

In that case it's a negative sadly. I would love a 42a version but no dice..

Is that a single ply Minion?
  • 1 0
Single ply with a Snakeskin style casing. Smile

So less flats while it's a single ply tire? Smile
