do you find that it is too slack the 180(if im not mistaken) in the front? would you have gone with the 160?

Not at all. I ran it in the 5" mode in the rear too.

I had a lyrik 160mm on it before and I wouldn't hesitate to run the 180 again.

I used my WC for a lot of DH though.

Nope the linkage has two diff mounting holes. 6mm allen and 30 seconds to switch between modes.
