Haha, I'm sure it works great for steep trails, but in the UK there aren't many steep trails that warrant a head angle like that!

Are you kidding!? All dh tracks in the uk are steep as! Especially in Scotland.

you have obviously never been here then...

Well there are a few, but the non famous, 'local spots' which we ride regularly on weekends, aren't. We dont all live in Wales or Next to Fort Bill Frown

Plum are you talking to me? I'm from the uk btw, and pretty much all our tracks are steep and tech. Over here in canada us brits are famous for riding that stuff. The "local spots" tend to be the most steep and sketchy, you just need to hit more difficult local spots.

my bad, your flag fooled me. yes there are a few tracks, but locals, for me, not so much cos i cant be arsed to push up the steep gnar!

I live in the south, it's as flat as a bloody pancake! Frown

So is Ontario but you wouldn't say Canada doesn't have any mountains. Point is, you can't say the uk doesnt have steep tracks just beacuse you can't see one from your house.

Well, I have to travel at least an hour and a half from where I live to get to a reasonably 'steep' trail. For a Majority of riders, at least in my area, we don’t have any steep trails. Steep trails are found in Scotland, Wales, South west, and up north etc, there are few steep trails for a majority of people I know. Sure, there are the odd few, but they are rare. Aston Hill for example that’s not steep, well at least not until the last 30m of the trails. I guess our definition of steep seems to differ. A.A Smile

maybe our tracks are just steeper than we think?
  • 1 0
Uh huh, altitude has nothing to do with gradient. And as you can see from your own map, at least half has mountainous terrain.
  • 2 0
Not directly, but it does indirectly, you need altitude difference to have a downhill gradient. I can't really see this argument being resolved. I think we both have different ideas of what is steep and what is not. Dependant on where you live in the UK you may or may not have access to ‘steep’ trails. From my experience there are very few trails that I would class as ‘steep’, such as Super Tavi at Gawton. It has to have a constant gradient of at least -1 to be steep in my books Razz This is with the understanding that I havent ventured further north than Noth Wales (where there are some steep trails). So my assumption is based on what I have ridden.

i will resolve it, if you struggle pushin up the hill then its steep, if your fine pushing up, its not steep
england has some steep trails and alot of shallower trails. there, sorted?
  • 2 0
Yeah, I can agree with that tup
  • 2 0
 good, glad thats sorted out.

south does have some very steep stuff , its just all about finding your own secret spots cos everything is owned by twats so if a place gets too well known it will get discovered and destroyed , some of the coolest spots ive ridden are withing 10 minutes ride from my house its just we cant ride em cos the farmer is such a nazi!!

@Bill - Building permission is yet another issue/struggle as far as developing trails go. Lets not have this discussion right here Smile - @Plum - You can't Confused - Unless I delete you comments, Sorry Razz

this bike is ace! the 2011 frame comes with a load of headset cups and loads of wheelbase options, stick the reducer cups in the headset to make it abit shorter (wheel base) and this will make it less slack and stick the wheel in the middle of the three settings and then it will suit any dh trail! im getting this frame hopefully after i sold my gambler and i cant wait! this frame is seriously light too when i went to the shop and just lift it up! sick frame!
