I'm getting a Sigma APO 70-300 f4-5.6 in a few days for my 60D, just to add more options to my filming. Currently have a sigma 10-20 f4-5.6 EX DC HSM, a Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 EX DG, a canon 50mm 1.8 and a Pentax 50mm 1.4. Will have the whole range covered.
I really wanna get the 50mm F/1.2 L lens but can't afford it. I've been told that the 50mm F/1.8 is just as good and it's far cheaper. You don't get that feeling of the mighty red ring lens though... I do love your setup. I do my filming on 500d and I'm in the middle of shooting an edit right now, with a few mates. It's tough though as the 500d has quite a slow frame rate at 720p and 1080p. I use 720 but it still blurs.
If I went to a full set of primes i'd definitely include the 50mm 1.4 USM, it's better than the 1.8, has a much more solid build and the extra 4 stops let in a ton more light, not to mention the glass in it is far better and the focusing with the USM is way faster if you do photos as well.
If you could, i'd splash out and get the 50mm 1.4, its worth every penny over the 1.8, which I find is very plasticy, almost like a toy.
Chill, I'm not having a go.. I save for my camera equipment, so it's not like I have a load of cash to blow.
I'm surprised about the quality of your winterchill vid with the lenses you used, I loved the video.
I know, my bad. Just don't get why people question equipment like it was the wrong decision to make, it isn't their rig. If it works for you, that's all that matters.
That was actually shot using the 'old' 30mm lens I mentioned earlier. It was an Olympus mount that I got an adapter for off Ebay to use with my Canon. It was pull zoom though, so it was a little tricky trying to zoom/focus in shots keeping it all steady.
