rough mock up to make sure the principle works i amde today. main aims, rearwards axle path, really low standover, and really low centre of gravity.

idler pulley not on there yet, and it wont look exactly like this as its got to be makeable.

This is a sweet design, I like it a lot. I know these cogs would be shielded and this is a quick mock up but they really need to be helical gears rather than spur gears. Is that what you intend to use? Apart from that it looks like my Canfield taken to the limit! Good luck with it.

look at the new version in the album. was looking at helical gears for the higher load capacity they have, but the forces they put along the axle will be higher so i'll have to beef up other areas. Love canfields, trying to ahieve a similar rearwards axle path with snappy short chainstays here.

I see. If you could mount them eccentrically the bike could have massive tunability potential. I read your comment about the cogs wearing out but only on a few teeth so that you can simple turn them on the axle to use fresh teeth, nice! The short stays and rearward axle path on my Canfield Jedi work outrageously well so it's well worth trying to emulate or improve on it. I'll be watching the progress on your design with great interest, keep up the good work!

thanks man, the cogs would mean you could adjust a few things without altering the leverage ratio and curve, but to do that it'd get massively complicated, gonna keep it simple apart from the complexity of the cogs, lol. Maybe an excentric upper pivot to slacken or steepen it a bit, nothing more.

that would work but the problem is what u make the cogs from as aluminiums no good as would wear down or snap to easy but loving the frame

cogs wont be homemade, tye'll be as light as i can find but durable, then macined to work with the linkage

That is a sweet idea, but would rocks and sand get caught up in that? maybe you could build a seal around it

well it was a quick mock up done in a few hours so i can visualize it better. will be pretty much totally sealed, i'm not a total idiot Wink
