clean welds. This should be the reference example of how to properly mod the seat brace. I'm tired of seeing those ghetto hack jobs

how do you get that color? not the raw.. the color you have used som hot thingt tho get
  • 1 0
It's a new seat brace, so the heat from the welding caused the color change.

 custom seatstay brace welded on?
  • 1 0
 Precisely.
  • 1 1
I could weld it better Wink ...seriously lol

 Shwa?
  • 1 0
Haha I think I could make it look prettier Razz
  • 1 0
Wow. I thought this looked pretty amazing haha.

Don't get me wrong, it's a good weld but the wraps on the corners are kind of sloppy and it looks like the weld got to hot. That's just from looking at the one picture though

He did have some trouble getting the lance in with the seatstays in the way.

that is a work of art.
  • 1 0
Quite stoked on how it turned out.
  • 1 0
is this at project status now then?
  • 1 0
Yup. This will be a back-burner project though. Not going to have much money to spare after this summer.

do you at least have a rear wheel to test the clearance with?
  • 1 0
Actually yes, but sadly not the tire I want to use with it. All I have is the DTH on the Betty and a 2.1 SB0, both are too tall for my liking.
  • 1 0
is there still enough clearance with the taller tires? or are you going to need a mac II or the likes of?
  • 1 0
Yes, I can run a taller/fatter tire now, but not slammed. I'm trying to see if I'll be able to slam a skinny tire.
  • 1 0
if you can that would be sick. Definitely a great mod.
  • 1 0
Kenda Komfort my man. Excellent tire if you aren't concerned with the grams.
  • 1 0
That's precisely what I was thinking. Ken recommended them to me (I think). Either that or you showed me the tire he was running.
  • 1 0
Yeah, he was telling me to get one today as I pumped my DTH to 65PSI with a shock pump...he had plenty of time to tell me...but 850g is pretty hard to come to terms with.
  • 1 0
Hahaha. Yea, that is pretty hefty, but I'll be running pegs on it so, I might not notice that weight that much. Especially if I could slam this puppy. That would just be excellent.

looks like a stout frame sorta
  • 1 0
Well, it's technically not an NS anymore lol.
  • 1 0
 Gon' steal mah thunda!
  • 1 0
 Correction: Stole yo' thunda! Haha
  • 1 0
 Damn youz.
  • 1 0
Your build will definitely be built quicker than this though. So you got me on that front.
  • 1 0
Eh...I got a month or so, the tubing isn't in yet from wherever he gets it, plus I gotta pay the man.
  • 1 0
This on the cap? and did you do this?
  • 1 0
Yep, and no, Solid Bikes welded it for me.
  • 1 0
Ah nice this looks pretty good, gonna keep the frame raw?
  • 1 1
 Absolutely. And let rust form.
  • 1 0
Ever heard of clear powder coat...
  • 1 0
Yup, and it costs money. Surface rust isn't that big of deal. I'm trying to build this thing to thrash and not care about. The best way (I think) for that to happen is to already start out with it rusting haha.
  • 1 0
Oh, I though you were being sarcastic! o_O My bad, the old rusty look will look amazing, a bit like this:

Hahaha no, not this time. I was super SRS. That's the plan. Should look pretty decent I think.
  • 3 0
if you're doing the rust thing, I vote for painting the tires white walled.
  • 1 0
Hmmm nice idea. I just may do that.
  • 1 0
 Kris you so smart.
  • 1 0
 is that your capital?
  • 1 0
 Yep.
