 if you remember the stage, there was a lot of crowd hostility. This was an eventuality, not a mere possibility.

 if i remember right she is a dude and he was taunting him for a few stages with this med suit holding up a big ass syringe and a stethoscope chasing him up the hills cuz he was accused of doping but, if i remember right it was super small amounts and i believe they dropped the doping charge or what ever you wanna call it, so yea the dude deserved to get punched and i think this gives roadies a way better name this guys a champ
