i thought mine were too small at 680, how the hell do you even ride this lol

 lol

Fast! Wink

Its how i like it. I see the advantages of wide bars but people also need to see the dis-advantages of them which they choose to ignore. Theyre less responsive. This is great for bobbing and weaving subways, people, urban obstructions etc. Oh and for cross ups.

That said, your 680 is respectable, i have 680 on one of my other bikes.

fair. I want wider because 680 feels too twitchy as it is, i'm not doing it for looks or anything

In theory bars should be little wider than shoulder width.

680, twitchy? Hmmm, having only recently come to 680's i can see your point. Im not massive or anything though so they do me just fine.

Twitchy is good though. Twitchy=responsive (but less leverage compared to wide bars). Wide bars = more leverage (but less responsive).

How much wider are you going?

gonna buy around 750 then chop down slowly, thinking about getting the atherton pro taper 1/2 inch riser ones as my mate has them on his DH rig and feel about nice Smile

A reasonable length to add. Thought you were going to say 700!

Atherton is ok, depends how much you like shimano.

Why not a flat bar? Remember, rise on riser bars serves a purpose (to raise the front end derr haha!) although they are seen as the norm now.

hate the look of flat bars lol always looks like you 've bought a bit of pipe and stuck it through Big Grin

And thats why risers are seen as the norm! Im not massively fussed, although some bikes just HAVE to have a riser or flat. BUt then it can come down to whether you take form or funtion first. For me i try and get a bit of both, not specifically either one. So that way it can be either bland or sometimes not look right. Or not perform as well as putting 'xyz' on instead. Trade offs.

aye, i'm aiming for a bit of both with 1/2 inch

1/2 inch is good. I really like the look of a lot of low rise bars.

that's basically what i'm going for Wink low rise is nicee
