Awesome thanks! I just wanted to compare wheel sizes. I have a 99 mk3 gti vr6 and Im picking up some new shoes for it in the spring. I was looking into some OZ's or Borbets in 16".
No prob! 14's look extremely small on mk4's though, I have 15's on my mk4 Jetta at the moment and they're small as hell. Definitely keep 16" as the smallest rim choice and you'll be fine, 17's would be pretty much perfect.
Dope. I am running stock 15"s right now and the car has been lowered a big. There is about shoe sole amount of space between my tire and rear fender. I want to drop it down more but curbs will eat the f*ck out of my oil pan since they're super low on the Vr's, I was looking into either 16's or 17's to balance it out nicely with nice low profile tires. These are my top choices at the moment.
Yeah the oil pan on my mk3 GTI vr6 is super super low too, I'm actually going to raise the car up at bit for daily driver status and so I can carpool other people to work then just dump it on show days. Look into an R32 oil pan, they sit a lot higher and are stronger as well.
Get the Sparcos!
Yeah. I've been quoted for $400 for the new pan so im really really moving away from it even though I feel as if I need it. And I read some sobby reviews about the sparco's. I want the Borbets or OZ's. Need to make a long term decision ahaha. Im going to run my stock mk3 wheels til the summer time.
I don't think it's possible with my coilovers. They don't have any damping adjustments, I might be able to open them up and refill them with thicker oil though.
