I was hoping Paris could tell use a little about it too. It's got a really gritty but clean feel on it. I saw a photo in another article of a guy to the right holing a boom with a battery pack and the flash over head so he can get a really balanced light (note stong shadows to right of rider but no shadow from the sun) for the rider but there still something else.
Edit I don't know where the sun is but maybe the flash is lined up with is. In other shoots there's two shadows.

Hey youngfr, what you are looking at is a few easy steps with the right gear. First I was using an elinchrom ranger powered up to 5 or 6 stops held by Ian Hylands as you can see in the video. The sun is a little brighter which causes its dominant shadow. Flash is camera overhead right. From there even if you don't use lights, use Lightroom 4 to make all your global adjustments. Color, tones, split toning, clarity , etc. I will do a blog on the entire process sometime.

Yea looking forward for it. And see if you can add photoshop editing steps too. I usually experiment with Vibrance option.
