One bike to rule them all ! Well almost. This bike is a versitile beast, the frame is like no other, a lot of thought has gone into making the Rune super strong yet reasonably light. Square to round, hydroformed, triple butted tubing on the top tube. Ovalised down tube with a really ingenous integrated gusset matched to a 1.5 head tube and literally able to run the largest of forks. The rear end, as everyone says is lateraly stiff, and the ribbed chainstays add to that as well as making you feel that little more secure knowing you'd have to hit them with a sledge hammer to bend them. Riding the bike you bcome very confident and enthusiastic. It seems to spur you on to go harder, and you lose a little of the fear factor when you realise that it's up for almost more than you can dish out, only really finding it's limits on ridiculously scarey terrain that downhill and free-ride bikes call home - you know the real big stuff. It's only weakness is on really long protracted climbs, the ones where you ride up and up for miles. It just takes a lot out of you but it is in no way unable to climb, in fact technical climbs are one of it's fortes. I have made climbs that some of my xc buddies on their climbing machines have faltered on. But yeah any bike that's over 35lb is gonna be a monster to ride up the hill. As long as you're not into racing uphill you wont care and as for your friends on their lighter bikes you WILL catch them on the downs cause the moment the trail points down it literally leaves nearly every other trail bike in it's wake. On the flat fast flowing single track you feel like Conan the Destroyer as it's agility shines through especially for a bike packing so much weaponry. I LOVE it. I hang with mainly xc dudes and I swear they forget what I riding because I can keep up with them, there's no, "wait for the big bike to catch up" they are all reminded however what I'm on when the trail points down . Go get one. 5 star stuff

The Rune is an amazing bike. I have had one for just over a year and have ridden it in all weather conditions and on every type of terrain. From sweet XC single track to full DH races and the Whistler Bike Park.

Not once has it let me down. The bike has great angles for climbing and descending. Not too steep or slack which makes it bike that can almost be the ONE bike in your stable of rides.

Cons- My 2008 frame could have been improved with a 30.9mm seat tube (for and adjustable post) and mounts on the top tube for a remote line for a post. A 68mm BB would make the installation of a dual ring guide easier as well. There is some pedal feedback in the granny gear if you don't have a smooth pedal stroke.

Pros- the bike is solid for technical climbing. Excellent for descending, it is relatively light and the bushings on the bike make for a laterally stiff bike. It rails corners extremely well. The bike pedals really well especially in the middle ring. The 1.5" head tube allows for a lot of fork options. The suspension is active on the climbs and is active under braking.

It is a super all round bike.

Banshee as a company are really great to deal with as well.

I give it 4.8 stars out of 5

Pros: Super stiff, climbs like a goat, great handling bike.

Cons: So far none, this bike can do XC (no pedal bob...really) and also rip your favourite DH trails and not complain.

The first week I got this bike I took it up to the Kootenays and did some epic XC rides (7 summits, Keystone standard basin...etc) and it rode them all better than I had expected. Now I am riding my local trails that are rough, rocky and steep and it feels right at home here too...this bike can do it all....add to that the Banshee guys are amazing...great support and local too. I fully recommend this bike.

I own a 2010 Rune with the Journeyman Trail build kit. I upgraded the 2010 Revelation Team... or should I say traded out the Revelation for a Lyric. A little more beef and a little stiffer with 1 extra inch.

LOVE this bike. Banshee has designed one of the best climbers I have ridden to date. The rear V4B rear suspension system gives minimal pedal feedback, and tracks like it is on rails. It is far more plush than a parking lot test will ever tell you as it rides firm until you hit the bigger stuff hard.

I would rate this bike a solid 8 out of 10!!

 + geometry
+ suspension
+ stiff
+ weight
+ pedaling efficiency
+ maintenance (bushings and pivots)

- seat post size (I have 30mm version I've bought it in 200Cool
- little problem with ISCG05 (one screw port is badly finished, so I have mine DRS mounted only on two screws).
- if only I could have the second version of it (30,9mm seat post etc).

pros: climbs great! descends greater! looks amazing, and isnt super heavy, but it still stroooong. and super stiff. perfect bike to earn your descents on. more aimed at FR than am if you build it that way.
cons: bushings dont last as long as bearing, but if you grease em they will last. and they are waaaaaay cheaper! just cents for new bushings!

I have been riding my Rune for just over a year now and I love it. It really is a do it all bike, but what surprised me most, especially coming from Banshee, is how well this bike climbs. Traction in spades, can take anything on the downhill. Worth taking a good look at. I wrote a full review of my bike a little while ago, its a custom build, too much to go into here check out my review at bikefat.com/bike-review-banshee-rune

 The Good:
Excellent geometry, Stability at speed, Versatile (3 rear dropout positions for 2016), Durability, Well priced

The Bad: Powdercoat is not as tough as anodizing could be

Overall Review:
Banshee has built a bike that fits perfectly with my needs. In the year I've owned it, it's been ridden nearly 750 miles in San Diego CA, Santa Cruz CA, and Park City UT. It handles XC and light DH easily. I've not had an ounce of frame trouble.

The Rune makes it possible to use one bike for nearly everything. It replaced two bikes: an Ibis Mojo HDR and a Santa Cruz VP Free. The Rune is actually more stable on fast, rough descents than the Free was. It's every bit as quick on trail as an HDR. The long, slack (but not too long, not too slack) geometry must be to blame for both of those wins. With a travel-adjustable fork, the long wheelbase is not a drawback on switchbacky climbs.

Setup:
- Fox 36 TALAS
- Cane Creek DBAir
- SRAM GX Drivetrain, Hope Cranks / BB
- Chris King InSet
- Race Face SIXC DH bar and Atlas 50mm stem
- KS LEV Integra post
- Hope Tech3/E4 Brakes
- Hope Pro4 / DT Swiss EX471 27.5" wheels
- 2.4" tires F/R

Been riding a 2010 Rune mainly on the North Shore (endure/dh) for 2 years now. Love this bike, super versatile yet can huck phat. Bushings and pivots can wear but Banshee have been great with support. love it.

This kills it. On it I've done it all, race DH, epic XC, freeride, big hit freeride, DJ, and the go-to-the-store-for-groceries ride

Sweet rig! Climbs nice. Rails the descents! Super fast and built mine to weigh in under 30 lbs as a full-on All Mountain rig!

Cracked my Rune 3 times near the bottom bracket. Same frame as the one in the picture. Welded it up now, but still a good all round bike.
