Super light, super crisp and out of the way. The shadow design reduces the amount of derailleur protruding past the frame by 16mm! Meaning it's out of the way of trail obstacles. The shadow style derailleurs also have revised, direct cable routing. Meaning less cable to get caught, and less weight. And also, a cleaner look.

I've ran sram for two years (x-9 on my team dh) and couldn't believe the how much more precise, crisp and durable the xtr shadow is. Run it through mud, smack it off rocks,it just doesn't complain.Pros:Precise,no missed shifts, the carbon fiber arms can withstand alot of abuse on runs.Xtr shifter just feels amazing, lots of adjustment for reach,etc...Set it and forget it.

Shifts are fast and precise when tuned properly. Shadow design make the derailleur hidden and to protect the awesome design from scratches and wrapping it around. It is expensive, but it's worth it!
