Just awarded number one bike park in the Southwest for the fourth year by MTB Parks, Angel Fire Bike Park, the largest Bike Park in the Rockies, is officially open with over 60 miles of trails. The Bike Park Director, Hogan Koesis, talks about this weekend's Demo Daze and the first Fire 5 Race results.

Angel Fire Bike Park Opening Day

Angel Fire Bike Park Opening Day

For opening weekend, Mother Nature didn’t hold back from throwing a sucker punch at us. With blizzard-like conditions Friday morning at the base of the chairlift, only the true die-hards showed up to shred. Fortunately for us, we’re in the Southwest and have a leg up on the summer season. The sun moved in, and that awesome Angel Fire cacao pow that so many people have come to love came out in force.

As the sun came out, so did the racers. We had a huge turnout with new faces and paces alike. With open practice all day on a relatively short track for Angel Fire standards, the giddiness of racing rose to the surface. In the Junior Men Category, the competition was high with 14 racers competing for the pace that would carry them through this year’s series. In the Open Men Category our local hometown bike patroller, Dan Stein, smashed the competition and would have placed mid-pack pro. I guess it was his first race, so we’ll cut him some slack. In the Pro Women Category, Krista Rust won by only 0.1-seconds next to Lindsay Yost. In the Pro Men Category, a similar story unfolded as they were all only about a second or less apart from each other.

Demo Daze – May 27–28, 2017

This week, the trail crew will be fixing up some of the damage from last weekend, as well as working on some cool improvements on some popular trails. Look forward to some fantastic upgrades in Lower Boogie, Lower Supreme, and Boulder Dash. We’ll be attempting at getting the steeps opened as well as Angel’s Plunge. We’ll need all the terrain we can get for this upcoming weekend. A ton of vendors will be showing up for our second annual Demo Daze.

SR Suntour and Brett Tippie will be here helping us support the amazing weekend. We’ll have demos running all day Saturday with a movie premier Saturday night where there will be a free Suntour fork giveaway! Also on Sunday, there will be multiple chances to ride with Brett Tippie and the gang, so don’t miss out on this chance to ride with a living legend.

Memorial Day Weekend

Don’t forget to make plans this weekend to come on down to Angel Fire for the second annual Demo Daze event. We’ll have some seriously good times with some good ol’ berm slashing, jump scrubbing, and bike park destroying. See you there!

If you'd have waited half the day on Saturday you'd have been rewarded with some of the best dirt I've seen in a long time!

Heading out for the weekend of June 2nd. Good conditions with open trails? I'll be driving 10 hours to get there so wanted to double check. If anyone has info let me know. Thanks!

Demo Daze= 45 minute lift lines.
Im sure most of the good trails are closed still, right?

How about you stop being a wiener. Lines no longer than 20 min, almost all trails were open and in perfect shape. You complain, I gain.

@dangahoesing: how about you get on your knees? 20 minutes is still too long. witty internet guy
