SRAM Patent Indicates a Future With Thru-Headtube Mounted Stems For a Lower Bar Height
@likeittacky: that probably had more to do with fork offset, first 29er forks used 26” wheel offsets. They are doing it again now with 32” forks. People expect it to handle like a wagon wheel anyway so I guess it’s okay.

First Ride: Sour's 32/29" Mega Mullet Trail Bike
Can someone just set off a flare for me when they start designing 32" forks with offsets designed for 32" wheels. It's beyond maddening that we are doing this again (remember 29" forks with 26" wheel offsets!)

Testing a 32" Mega Mullet Downhill Bike Against the Clock
You really need to run this test again with a fork with offsets optimized for a 32" wheel, instead of stuffing a 32" wheel into a fork optimized for a 29" wheel. Too much trail makes with make the front wheel feel unwieldy (regardless of the diameter). What is really amazing is that the test pilot still had better times riding a bike with poor fork geometry.

The data we are currently getting off 32" wheels is not going to be particularly useful until any fork manufacturer builds a test fork with the correct offsets for a 32" wheel, instead of just using 29" wheel offsets. At current fork offsets you would need to be running about a 72 degree head angle, and that's going to suck offroad regardless of the wheel diameter. We already learned all this going from 26" to 29" and it is frustrating watching the bike industry repeat the same mistakes over and over.

@Muscovir: As is your comment! Until larger wheels came into play, taller riders never did well trying to shoehorn themselves into very awkwardly designed 26" bikes. Its not an unfair advantage if it scales with the size of their bike.

@SintraFreeride: They measure the OD of the tire in MTB, not the rim diameter like in road biking.
