Field Test: 2023 Yeti SB140 - The Traction Finder
@wyric: you don't get a reach around with a $9k bike...

Field Test: 2023 Norco Fluid - The Reasonably Priced One
This bike looks very tempting for the janky rake'n'ride single track we ride up here in New England, but there really are a ton of options now, Polygon Siskiu, the new Vitus Mythique, the new Rift Zone, the T.E.M.P.O, H series Occams, Fezzari etc... For the price of the Yeti/Scott/Trek/SC in this test you could have this Norco, the new Polygon enduro bike, a Nukeproof Scout and still have some money leftover for a riding trip!

@ryan-pnw: Or buy the new Polygon Enduro bike as well to really enjoy the downs, and have 1000s leftover!

Field Test: 2023 Yeti SB140 - The Traction Finder
@wyric: For $10K I'd expect a reach around, not having to spend another $500-$1000

Field Test: 2023 Yeti SB140 - The Traction Finder
@Marquis: The Yeti isn't a good example, but Trek and Scott both offer sub $4K versions of the bikes included in this field test so why wait 3 or more years to buy a used $10,000 version?

They could have dual purposed that RSD Wildcat from the Down Country/XC test!

In fairness to Scott and Trek they both offer sub $4K versions of the bikes on test. The Norco still appears to be a great deal with Factory on a $4K bike.

Nukeproof Announces New US Operations & Distribution
I wouldn’t call NukeProof direct to consumer. In the US they’ve had a handful of small dealers, or you could order from CRC/Wiggle, but in the UK they have a larger dealer network.

First Ride: Polygon's $3,299 Collosus N9
@adamszymkowicz: See my comment above, I've got a take-off wheelset from the Siskiu T8 sitting in my basement, unridden, 2.6 Hans Dampf, tubes, with rotors the pair weigh 12.1lbs. The Magic Marys are 1lb heavier than the Hans Dampf for that pair, and the Colossus is running i35 rims rather than i30s on the T8, so you could be up to 14lbs for the stock wheels/tires/tubes....
